Compared to Escape, disappointed. I wouldn't sail on the Breakaway again. Spent too much time at guest services asking for my credits I was due ($100 for being frequent traveler) Had to call my travel agent, total lack of service. Apprehensive to book another cruise on NCL.
A BIG thank you to Komgunawan -our waiter in the Manhattan room, he really made our last night of dining special. He went above and beyond to accommodate our group and was the only staff that made us feel really special. He should be commended for his service!
Embarkation

Awful! Very tired after sitting on bus at airport, then fighting Mardis Gras Traffic! Was pouring when we arrived.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
Traveling on the ESCAPE was a much better experience. The Breakaway has great food, but lacks good service - completely disappointed in the service
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
Pools are overcrowded and not enough seats. Many are reserved for the whole day without anyone even using them
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Loved Rock of Ages and Burn the Floor! Did not like the 3 guys singing in Syd Noman's Pour House.
Children's Programs
Did not travel with children
Service and Staff
1 out of 5
Completely dissatisfied with bartenders. Not enough at bars and around pool deck and theaters. Always felt like it was a nuisance to ask for a drink. I always include a cash tip with every drink &
Meal and I still got less than average service. MUCH better service when I traveled on the Escape. No comparison!
Ship Quality
1 out of 5
The ship needs to remove smoking from the Casino if it's located mid-ship and you can't avoid it.
I recently was diagnosed with a lung problem and had difficulty breathing every time I had to walk through there. I tried to avoid that area, but that's the easiest way to get from the front to the back of ship. My room was at the back.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
My cabin was 10300. One day room was not cleaned (said our light was on not to clean - I didn't put it on) anyway I returned to room late, room was not ready, called for towels since I need to shower early the next day for excursion. No one came for towels, I had to call again in the morning.
Ship tip
I would tell someone to sail on the ESCAPE, not the Breakaway.
Leaving from this port was not a good idea during Mardis Gras. Sat on bus at airport for hours, then long ride to ship. Arrived late in the afternoon. Food and beverage service were shut down when we arrived for safety meeting, then crowds of people trying to get food and drink afterwards. That was not a good experience. Pretty much missed our on the first day.
Took buggy ride through town - to 2 beaches and through the jungle. Vehicles were in bad shape and even broke down on our tour. Guides were accommodating and enjoyable!
I had the same issue the week before. Sailed out Feb 24th and returned on the 3rd. The bars and restaurants were WAY under staffed. Trying to swim in the pool was impossible. Spice H2O was the highlight, with the "Waterfall" area to cool down. Getting off the ship on the 3rd was horrible. They need to re- think that port.
