Review summary

We know the cruise industry had to jump to replace the destinations that were effected by the hurricanes but offering ports that were not equivalent to ones booked without offering compensation is just wrong! We booked with BJ’s and they did step up and helped the best they could and we will book with them again. Think about Trip Insurance it could make your travel less stressful. I think Norwegian could have offered better Destinations or Compensation for these non equivalent offerings. Then again if I purchased insurance I would not have had to go on this vacation. Cruise lines don’t have to compensate u for an itinerary change and it’s in the contract that I signed before the cruise

Unfortunately honeydogs2 that’s a chance anyone takes when booking a cruise, or any vacation really. I always book a vacation to go to the beach, go shopping and hang out, but I do so many months in advance. Idk if the weather will cooperate but I hope for the best and if it doesn’t work out, I adjust my plans and go with the flow. Either way, I’m on vacation and hanging out with the family. I understand the frustration of bad weather and not seeing the ports you wanted to see, really...I do, but try to find the silver lining. Time away from work, daily responsibilities etc, time with friends or family. I’m sure there was SOME good in the trip. Focus on the good, not the bad!

Honeydogs2. Learn to make the best of things, you'll learn to love life and what it has too offer so much more.

Why do you care so much and how do you know how I feel I had to wait 10 years to go on another cruise the weather and ports sucked and blew a lot of money so yes it keeps me up at night.

Honeydogs2...grow up and put your big girl pants on!! That is ridiculous that you can't sleep due to itinerary change. You still had a cruise and food, drink, entertainment and fun.

I am with you all the way I purchased insurance it didn't do me anygood i am so dissapointed. I still can't sleep over the fact we had to go to those intineraries I have to save up for a cruise and to have these memories is devastating.

Most insurance doesn’t cover port changes or cancellations based on port changes so having insurance prob wouldn’t have helped you anyway. Just enjoy the fact that you were on vacation and make the best of it. I get the frustration but unfortunately that’s the chance you take sailing to the Caribbean esp right after or during Hurricane season.

PS What compensation should be offered if you went on the cruise? That's puzzling to me.

I meant "appreciate the logistics..."

My cruise destinations have been completely changed due to the hurricanes. I'm sad to miss The Virgin islands because I used to live there but I understand the reasons behind the changes and resist the logistics all of the cruise lines went through to restructure their cruises. Personally, just being on a ship in the Caribbean is bake enough. I believe NCL and all the cruise lines are doing their best to provide us with relaxing trips. They are in no way responsible for the storms. You are correct in that downshift the money did a cruise without getting insurance is foolish unless you can afford losing your money or being so disappointed. Life lesson learned, I hope.

Read your cruise contract. Cruise lines can replace a port for any reason and no compensation. You agreed to that contract the day you made your deposit.

We got great replacement islands for ours. I almost feel bad that we aren't still going to a few of the ones hit but will plan something to those islands at a later date.

Some people are never happy

The cruiselines did the best they could for replacement ports. Think about all the ships in the Caribbean and the logistics of moving all of them around to other ports. They can't all go to the same places at the same time. You are whining about the ports you went to. Stop your whining and think of the hardships that all those islands are going through. Don't cruise if you are just going to complain because some of the islands are not spik and span. They face a much harder life than you do. Beyond the dirt are beautiful islands and beautiful people.
