Review summary

This was the worst cruise line out of the six I have been on. I will not use Norwegian again even if they offer me a free trip I was also charge for spa services that I did not receive and I had to make four stops to the desk

Embarkation

4 out of 5
Ny port always good. Took too long to get into our room once on boat.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
The food was horrible always cold and the restaurant service took a long time There were also not many options on the menu

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
The ropes course was closed more than it was open so the lines were astronomical They would not allow my 13-year-old to be in the adult pool and since there are only two pools you can use in less you spend an extra fee to use the third pool they were very crowded

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The shows were good

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
My nephew was 12 and my son 13 and they would not allow them to be in the same camp even though we were told prior to selling they would make the accommodation

Service and Staff

1 out of 5
Staff seem like they were burdened for any request

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
We had an allergy episode on the boat due to a family member allergic to dust mites Under the beds were plastic bags from previous cruisers and there was even some cereal on the floor under the bed

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
Room was very dirty but would have been nice if clean

Ship tip

If you like to use the gym plan to spend extra money Everything is geared toward paying extra when you get on the ship

Ports of call

New York, New York

4 out of 5

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

3 out of 5
They did a horrible job with the tender service We waited 15 minutes in the theater to get on the tender and we were 20 minutes early for our time Because they called everybody at once

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
We had a really good time at Atlantis in there waterpark

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
An escalator broke so they held everyone back instead of alternating in on the priority line which was not being used

NCL and Royal are the best if u want the worst try MSC

John806    6 years ago

So!! You don’t like NCL! Who is your favorite?

People dont realize that the adult pool is over 6 feet deep! Kids dont belong in the pool, especially if they can't swim.

Yes that is what I was thinking 🤔.The man we had cleaned every day and he new my name.Very nice

Wondering if the do not disturb button was on and that’s why no one serviced room. Can happen easily without you realizing it.

I just got back and the food was warm every time and my room was clean. My son was bummed about the pool but it say’s adult only and there is a reason there have been accidents with pool’s on ships. Can’t blame NCL for that.Sorry you had a bad time.

I have been on 6 NCL cruises and this does not sound like you’re describing them at all.

And what pool do they charge for? There are only 2 pools on BA other than the one in The Haven. And why would you be looking under the beds? Do people think that the stewards are going to pick up and put away their stuff in the cabin? Their job is to make up the bed, empty garbage pails, vacuum and clean the bathroom. Along with changing and replishening towels. You leave your cabin a mess and i have seen inside some cabins, then dont expect them to be picture perfect. Did you use the buttons near the door to let them know you wanted the room cleaned? If not they wont service it. 6 times and we have NEVER had to wait for dinner or have received food cold. Did you go to the buffet and expect to be served? There are more than enough choices. Obviously cruising is NOT for you and your family.

esm54687- yes that is true

Why would you have thought that your 13 year old would be allowed into the Adult Pool? Thirteen is NOT an adult. It's not even close! Plus, had they let your 13 year old in, they would have had to let EVERYBODY'S 13 year old in! I know overcrowding in an issue in almost every cruise line's ship's pools, but that's just the way it is on a cruise. Sorry you were disappointed.

shannyshan: as in most cases.... a positive experience is enjoyed quietly but even a remotely semi bad experience is screamed about like someone lost a limb

I just came back from a cruise with them on the Breakaway and I had the opposite experience. My room was always clean, the steward made sure of it, he always checked in and made sure everything was in tip top shape as far as the room goes. Staff was pretty friendly. There are more bad reviews about Norwegian saying the same thing than there are good reviews. It’s always “the staff is rude” and “there’s nothing to do”, or “we can’t do this because of” whatever. I dont get it, but i definitely enjoyed the Breakaway.

Sorry you had such a bad experience..... I agree there was no excuse for a dirty room or cold food but there were some things I think you were harsh on 1) there's no escalator on the Breakaway! That's an issue you should have with Manhattan Cruise Terminal Operations since NCL is not responsible for that 2) it's not uncommon to be strict about the age limits in the "camp" due to insurance and legal stuff 3) again your 13 year old is not an adult so insurance won't allow him in the adult pool.... pools on cruise ships will always be crowded especially with 4000 passengers 3) when you choose to cruise in late November with lousy weather of course they are going to close rope courses for safety and when they open you have "astronomical" lines because it's popular especially Thanksgiving week with a million kids 4) what time could you get to your room on the "boat"? On average it is between 1pm and 2pm depending on maintenance etc.
