Overall we truly enjoyed our cruise. My biggest concern was getting seasick, since I take Dramamine products to go to the movies, as a normally get queasy watching a movie but I took a bonine once a day and ginger root twice a day and only had a slight issue one evening of being queasy, as it was a bit rough, rainy and windy, the waves were like 14ft (according to the message on the ship) but by the next morning, I was good. The other that we encountered was there was a seminar offered for metabolism and losing weight, we both thought this is something that would interest us, so we went and fell for the gimmick and thought we signed up for a nutrition counseling session, well it wasn’t, it was to try and sell more stuff through the spa, which isn’t part of Norwegian but their own entity. The only way to get the nutrition was to buy their seaweed stuff, so we felt we were taken to the cleaners on that deal. So over all our cruise was very nice and would go again and will be going again.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Unfortunately when we got to the check in area, we were in line and all of the sudden it all stopped. They told us every year they have drills and that Sunday was the day. We stood in line for an hour and half before the ship was cleared and they starting letting people on.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
Overall the food was good. The buffet is what you would expect, the only thing I would recommend to them is having something to put on the table that it is in use, this way two people could get their food at the same time and actually eat their meal together. Taste and Savor the other two places that are included were really good and we enjoyed both of them. O’Sheans was also good. Our favorite specialty restaurant was Cagney’s (we ate there twice). We also ate at the Italian and Japanese places, they were ok but not our favorites.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
We did use the hot-tub, just wish there were more and another pool or two, since that area was always crowded. We did enjoy playing mini golf and just sitting on the deck in the lounge chairs reading.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The entertainment on board was really enjoyable. Rock of Ages is a must see who, as well as Burn the Floor. We also did Escape the Big Top, which was also cool. We loved just sitting in the Atrium watching and listening to whatever was going on. There is no lack of entertainment on this ship.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
Our stateroom was what was expected, we had an amazing cabin steward named RC, who went above and beyond to make sure we had what we need and it was very, very clean and kept up. Everyone was very pleasant and always spoke and said hello, etc.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship is very clean and once you get acclimated it isn't that hard to get around. It is a very big ship, so you need to be prepared to walk a lot, but that didn't matter to use, figure we wouldn't gain as much weight from all the food.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Our stateroom was what was expected, we had an amazing cabin steward named RC, who went above and beyond to make sure we had what we need and it was very, very clean and kept up. The balcony was a bit small but it worked, we did use that quite a bit, as we sat out there to read and just relax. We did order the romance package, as it was our 15th Anniversary and there was a dozen roses and chocolate strawberries when we got in the room. We also had tea service during the week and it was above and beyond what we expected, not only was it tea but all kinds of goodies to go with the tea.
Ship tip
You make what you want out of a cruise, there is no lack of entertainment, food and things to do! There is a lot of walking that I will say but we figured we would walk off some of the food we ate each day!
We visted Kennedy Space Center, this was a great tour and we really enjoyed it, it was our second time there but there is new stuff there and learned even more. Wish we had more time in port.
The only real issue that we had was the tendering to the private island. It takes forever, we were supposed to do one of the shore excursions there and had no idea that were would have had priority tendering and were supposed to be at a different location than where we saw the info. For tendering, so we missed the excursion, they did reimburse us for that, which made it alright but if you do have an excursion, ask where to go, don’t assume to follow the tender instructions. My husband even told someone that we had tickets and they said you will get there in enough time… yep, wrong. Oh well it was all for the best because the water was very choppy and I am not sure I wanted to be on another small boat after the tender ride over. The weather wasn’t good that day, it started raining as we were walking onto the island and then progressively got heavier. Although we did get into the ocean, so we can say we were in the ocean in the Bahamas.
Nassau was great, we went to Discover Atlantis and that was really a good tour. We also walked through the straw market on the port and also the one about 3 blocks away. Again, I wish we had more time in Nassau, as there were other tours that I would have loved to have done.
This was much easier and no issues at all. You do need to be our of your stateroom by 9, but the buffet was open and we sat in the artrium area until our color was called. Don't rush to get off the ship unless you are being picked up early or have a flight, etc., because once you get off the ship and get your luggage, there is really no place to sit.
Overall good experience. You are smart to understand how motion effects you and take proper advance precautions. Sorry about the Spa sales fiasco, but I am sure THAT will not be repeated next cruise. Best wishes!
