Review summary

Overall this was a great vacation. Being able to leave from NYC was a real plus. The food was excellent. Bermuda is a wonderful port to visit. Lots to see and do and the people are extremely friendly. Had a great room. Loved the balcony. The only disappointment was disembarkation -- 45 minutes just to get off the ship. This is a bog ship but there has got to be a better way to get people off.

Embarkation

The process went very smoothly. No long lines. Could have used a little more information about what to expect and do once you were on board.

View from our balcony was a highlight of the trip.

Ship tip

On the last day get off the ship as soon as possible to avoid ridiculous lines. Do not pay any attention to the colors they give you. No one else does.

Ports of call

New York, New York

One of the advantages of this cruise was the opportunity to spend time in NYC before and after the cruise.

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Disembarkation sucks. I've been on 3 cruises. This was my first with Norwegian. I have never stood in such a ridiculously long line to get off the ship. Granted this is a large ship but it took us 45 minutes to get off. Things seemed to be moving well until Dan Dan started calling numbers early and the restaurant closed. There has got to be a better way to handle this. No one pays any attention to the colors they are given and gets off the ship at any point.

It still amazes me how they manage to disembark all those people and turn the ship around in that amount of time. Then reboard all those people. Last time in April they actually had to shut down the terminal due to the USCG inspection and all the passengers arriving. Lucky we were already checked in!!

Walk off is the best on disembarkation day.👍🏼😊🛳

Ejan: just curious.... how would NCL monitor the flow of 4000-4500 people leaving to an area built for 1000-1500 and at the same time turn around services to get 4000-4500 people and luggage on. Not argumentative but wondering your thoughts.... . doesn't NCL already try to monitor the flow with colors for disembarking?

The customs clearance was built to accommodate 1,000-1,500 arrivals. Now they have to clear 4,000-4,500 people through the same space. This congestion in on the Port Authority not on Norwegian, although Norwegian could probably monitor the flow a bit better.

I wish our disembarkation was 45 minutes, and not 90!

45 mins isnt too bad.

mkeith: unfortunately the disembarking process is completely at the mercy of the port operator / customs and not NCL..... NCL can organize the flow but the actual flow will be impacted by the terminal elevator, escalator, luggage area and customs agents available. Fire code laws limit the amount of people in the terminal which will slow things down... not to mention the passengers who totally disregard NCL's attempt to organize the flow (not paying attention to color tag times, trying to do walk off with way too much luggage / kids / strollers / souvenirs).... NCL has a great system but many things that impact it are way outside their control
