Review summary
As a frequent cruiser on NCL my family and I were disappointed as to the quality of service, food and overcrowding. The ship could not handle the amount of people on board. Chairs around the pool were not enough for all folks on the cruise. Service in all restaurants was terrible. Slow and food came out cold. In addition, the staff seemed unhappy and were not pleasant. All in all this was the worst cruise we have taken and the last on NCL.

As a travel agent/home based agency owner, I spend time reading these reviews for research purposes. Not only am I researching the ship/destination for myself but for potential clients as well. It is part of the service I offer. What astounds me most is how many times people would rather complain about their vacation rather than take some ownership of their vacation. We need to remember that there are 4000 people vacationing on this ship with approximately 1700 people working/living on this ship. At times, service is going to be slow. So what! You are on vacation, what are you in a hurry to do? If dinner take 2 or 3 hours, then it take 2 or 3 hours. Complaining will not change it. Going to dinner at a non-traditional time could change it however. The most popular times are 6pm and 830pm for dinner. This is why most cruise lines have those as set times so they can manage the rush of people. NCL does it differently, but that does not change the popular times that people want to eat. If you are someone that wants to eat at 6, then be prepared for a leisurely dinner. Take that time to enjoy the company at your table. If you are fortunate enough to sit with people that you are not traveling with, take that time to get to know them. If you absolutely MUST have a quick dinner, consider going to a different venue or changing your dinner time to one that is not as crowded. By possibly changing the time you go to dinner, you may also solve the issue of poolside seating. Try going to the pool during the dinner rush and you will find plenty of seats. And depending on the time of year you are cruising it will likely still be plenty warm and sunny. In short (I knowâ¦too late), you get back what you put out in the world. If you donât smile at people, donât expect them to smile at you. If you donât say hello in passing, then donât expect the same in return. If you are miserable and unhappy on your vacation, take some ownership to fix it. Lastly, if you are not booking with a travel agent, then you should start. A good travel agent can point out these things in advance so you are prepared when you board. A good travel agent can provide you with alternatives and guidance to avoid the pitfalls you have mentioned. Using a travel agent should rarely if ever cost more than booking yourself so why not use one. I hope that your future travels will be better and more enjoyable for you!
