Review summary

The overall experience was good, however I feel that Norwegian nickels and dimes you for everything.  When we boarded the ship they charged us for the wine we brought on board whether we were taking in to dinner or having it in our state room. Other cruise lines only charge if you take it to dinner. For the specialties restaurants there was an up charge for lobster. On the other cruise lines lobster is even included even in the main dining rooms. The dinners in the main dinning room although good were too similar each night. I don't like having to make reservations for the shows and being charged for a show. Not enough main shows are offered.  The balconies in the staterooms are way too small compared to other cruise lines.  The pool area is not conducive to lie around in unless you like to be underneath.  I thought the Haven area makes you feel like you are segregated from the rich.

I loved the private island and I thought the way they handled the buffet in Stirup Cay was very well done.  The grill by the pool was very good but the wait to get the burgers was too long.

Not my favorite cruise line but if the price is right I would consider it.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Tasty, but too similar each night.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Not enough main shows. I don't like being charged for cirque de sole. Loved the dueling pianos and 2nd city but by Thursday it was getting monotonous.

The staff was helpful, curtious and accommodating.

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin was fine but the balcony was way to small.

So what is so "free-style" if you have to plan and reserve everything in advance of your cruise?

I think alot of people think just because they are on a cruise that they don't need to do anything except show up and then get waited on hand and foot ....couldn't agree more if you do a lil research prior to sailing and some planning and READ things would be so much smoother, we leave on the escape in a month and I have everything booked and reserved and ready to sail, those who don't take the initiative to prepare no matter what cruise line that's all on them...you don't pack your car and head to a beach without some planning ahead

New menus they are introducing for MDRs that there will be lobster and prime rib offered but you'd have to pay $15-20 extra for it.

I didn't realize there is an additional charge for lobster in Specialty restaurants... I thought it would be included in the fee u pay to go there in the first place. 😕 Idc about wine fees since I'm a Vodka girl lol but I am aware of and fully intend to pay the extra fee for the Cirque shows since the food looks delish and I love the shows they put on! I am disappointed that according to the

everything you are complaining about are things that you should of been known since you booked your cruise. They tell you up front on there web site that they have a cork fee for wine, specialty restaurants are extra, they show pics of rooms/balconies or you can you tube them, some shows are free (which are great) some you have to pay for (like any cruise line) So it seems this was not the cruise for you from the start. Thats unfortunate you it had everything you dislike because we had a blast the 1st time and are going again in 10days, another booked for April with Norwegian.
