Review summary

The Breakaway is large ship and can get crowded, but smart planning can help you avoid it. For example, be tender group A for the island, and we stumbled upon Charlie Love and his band- excellent entertainment, by avoiding the over-crowded dueling pianos. The food was great, especially Moderno and Teppanyaki, and the staff was always very helpful and friendly. Shout out to the bartenders at Shakers! We stayed in a balcony on the 8th floor, and it was comfortable. My advice is to get a room more forward than midship to avoid the loud shuffleboard players outside your room- would've been a bigger negative if we spent more time in the room, but we were out enjoying ourselves with excursions and everything the ship offers. Universal was overcrowded and we got there late, the island was fantastic, and Atlantis, while pricey, was also very nice. If you can, get a pass for the 18+ Vibe beach club on the ship- worth the $100 per person, but they sell a limited number.

Best advice I got while booking that cruise is book all excersions, restaurants and shows online as that made things much easier once onboard. And the tip about brining a power strip was great, because there was only two outlets in our Balcony cabin. The power strip allowed us to plug in our phones, Tablets, etc to charge at once.

I also had a Cabana and I was thinking not all these people have Cabanas.I was told that anyone with an excersion on the island as well as Haven guest get a priority tender.

ajwalkin    8 years ago

if you are in the haven you have priority tender. if you book a cabana you have a priority tender. everything else first come first serve however I had a priority tender due to a cabana people cut through imagine that...

How do you pick what tender group you will be in?

Whole cruise

lydonfra    8 years ago

is the 100 for vibe for the whole cruise or 1 day

esprit    8 years ago

no, you don't.

jwburnett    8 years ago

Do you have to have a suite to get a pass for the vibe??

esm54687    8 years ago

We are doing the Stingray thing at GSC but thanks for that tip

ajwalkin    8 years ago

Cabana at GSC was worth every penny

esprit    8 years ago

we did. its sooo worth it. actually, with the obc, its the same price

esm54687    8 years ago

Got it!! Thank you!! Did you also do the cabana? If I do the Vibe then I would definitely pursue the cabana..... it's the uncertain weather and if it was too chilly Appreciate your feedback

esprit    8 years ago

2 days were chilly, but we used it anyway

esm54687    8 years ago

because you also said "unless you bundle up"

esm54687    8 years ago

Usable or Unusable?

esprit    8 years ago

we used the vibe the week of nov 15th..usable 5 of 7 days unless you bundle up. its worth the money especially the cabana

nitehawk41    8 years ago

the F 18 buzzed the ship twice. .That was pretty cool

esm54687    8 years ago

I am torn about Vibe because I will be travelling in March. I see you went in December so the weather is semi comparable..... is it too cold to be hanging out in the Vibe during winter months? How much use did you really enjoy up there? Thanks in advance

nurselife    8 years ago

Loved Teppanyaki. Cagney's was great too.

ajwalkin    8 years ago

I just saw you were on deck 8... the first day at sea , did you see F 18 buzz the ship

ajwalkin    8 years ago

shuffleboard is on starboard side. I didn't find it annoying. I was on deck 9. We're you on the New Year's cruise? Nice tender boat ride to GSC. lol
