Review summary

I really don't care where I go, just put me on a ship. I cruise for the enjoyment of the ship. The Bliss fulfilled all my expectations and I will cruise with NCL again!

Embarkation

1 out of 5
Waited outside the terminal in 40 degree temps for at least 45 min. Was told several times to wait in liune as other people got dropped off and just walked into the terminal. Once inside the terminal, another 30-45 minute wait to go through security. Then another 30 minute wait to get our sea pass. Then finally onto the ship and directed to a room which was overly full just to find out it was the Muster Drill which I missed!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We ate at Teppanyaki, Q , and Ocean Blue. They were all very good. The Main Dining Rooms were nice but slow. The menus had a wide variety and it was a calm, clean atmosphere. We ate most breakfasts and lunches in one of the MDRs. The buffet was OK for a quick snack but very difficult to get around. The signs for each station were hard to see where they were positioned and you had to walk completely around to see where things were, and then hope to get back to the table without getting lost, before the food was cold.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We saw the shows Jersey Boys and SIX. Both were excellent!!! We didn't see the comedians, but did see the Beatles several times. The venue, The Cavern Club, was too small to hold the amount of people wanting to see the show. Their last performance was in the Theatre so it was much more accommodating to the size of the crowd. I used the pool area once and the layout was good. Plenty of chairs. The weather was not conducive to water activities as there were only 2 sunny days, but plenty of other activities to take part in.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
See above.

Children's Programs

No children with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All were cheerful and eager to help with any requests or questions.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This ship was always clean! I liked the layout of the common areas as most seemed to be in the middle of the ship. This was a very easy ship to navigate!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The cabin was clean and comfortable. It was a bit smaller than other cruise line cabins but very easy to get around as I was the only one in the cabin. Storage was good and I had plenty of room to unpack my things. The bed was very very comfortable!!

Ship tip

Take time to explore this ship and relax in the Observation Lounge. It's quiet and a great place to relax as there is a small offering of snacks and sandwiches and a bar nearby.

Ports of call

New York, New York

2 out of 5
No excursion-just getting on the ship was dreadful and although I will definitely cruise with NCL again, it will never be out of Manhattan!

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
My friends and I took a transfer to Cocoa Beach and walked along the shore and had lunch. We had been to Nasa on a previous cruise.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas Did not visit port

Poor weather prevented us from docking there.

Nassau, Bahamas Did not visit port

I have been to Nassau before and just chose to stay on the ship and sit by the pool.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Getting off the ship was easy and uneventful.

As for the long line outside the terminal, I have read many reviews that stated they did not have to wait, pulled up and went right into the terminal as they were already checked in. I was checked in on line and had all papers ready. When I got out of the car, I found an employee (whether he was from NCL or the Terminal)and he told me I had to wait in line. I was not asked if I was checked in or not. As I waited in line with hundreds of others, people got out of their cars and walked right in. Can you explain the reason for this? Perhaps a perk of number of cruises on NCL previous? Total time from curb drop off to finally getting on the ship: 3 1/2 hours. Not good as a first impression. Will cruise NCL again as I loved the cruise, but not the experience in Manhattan Terminal.

We leave out of NYC all the time and have never had to wait outside. We pull up, get out, give luggage to Porter and get on line. Usually on ship by 1130 and having lunch in 1 of the dining rooms. Avoid the buffet for lunch!
