Norwegian Bliss

Sail date: December 13, 2019

Review summary

There are major improvements Norwegian needs to make, mostly with the Go-karts, some minor ones throughout the ship. More smoking sections, advising passengers of expected rough seas and closures of on-board activities, better notification of closed activities etc. But overall we met a lot of great people, staff and passengers. And had a great time. I would recommend this ship, just beware when buying any extra's!

Embarkation

We had flights and transfers included, luckily we were there really early and got on in the first half hour when they started. We did hear of others that took 3 hours to get onboard. We were 3 hours late leaving.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was awesome, we had 5 nights of specialty dinning, they were all amazing. Teppanyaki was my favorite for entertainment for dining, Cagney's Steakhouse was the best for food quality and staff. The Local was great for breakfast and lunch but a bit busy. The Garden Cafe had good food, but was busy all day long, and was hard to get a seat.

Great restaurant, great seafood! only downfall was, the lobster was listed as the same price as the highest available meal with the specialty dining plan, but you would still have to pay extra for the lobster on top of the specialty dining plan...How can you justify this?

Q Texas Smokehouse

Food was great and plentiful, but, with reservations, we were seated close to the stage, they then opened up seating all around us for anyone to come watch the live band. Not a big issue for us, but if we make reservations we would expect to be seated in some semi private seats, not a free for all war on seating!

Teppanyaki

5 out of 5

Amazing food, amazing entertainment!! This was the lowest on my restaurant expectations, but the entertainment alone raised it to the top once we experienced it. What a show!! Be sure to check out this great meal with an even better show!!

Le Bistro

Great food, and the service makes you feel like a V.I.P. I highly recommend this restaurant for a romantic dinner!

Cagney's Steakhouse

Great food, amazing staff. We were asked if we were celebrating anything, we were celebrating out 19th anniversary. they gave us a bottle of wine and an anniversary cake. The steaks were done as asked and couldn't have been better!!

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
The water slides are the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1. The water slides are fun, although, not everyone makes it all the way through ( I think this adds a whole new level of fun!!) the mini golf is 5 holes, nothing to brag about, not monitored, you have to go to the last hole to get the clubs and ball's. The Go-Karts? The main attraction of the cruise? COMPLETE FLOP!! We purchased the unlimited week pass. I feel they should have warned us that they were expecting rough seas for the first 2 days and the Karts would be shut down, AND that the Karts do not run while the ship is in port. 4 days lost of a 7 day pass right off the bat. turned out the seas were rough on the way home, so the Karts were open sporadically for the last 2 days, no signs or notifications, you had to climb all the way to the top to find out if it was open. We only got to ride twice. The second time we were told it was a 20 min wait, it was an hour and 20 mins, for 3 heats to run. they were running 10 riders per heat (Should only be 6 for the track size), and were only using one loading lane out of 2 available (They should be loading one lane while the other is racing, then switch once they are pulled into the pit). The Weekly pass for the Go-Karts is a waste of money! As far as I'm concerned, they should have warned us they would not likely be running the first 2 days, as the captain must know the weather well in advance, they knew they were most likely shut down for the first 2 days, also they didn't tell anyone they don't run while in port, until we were in the first port.

Bliss Speedway

Very poorly run!! Only running 1 pit lane instead of 2, running 10 people/heat(Should limit to 6), should separate kid's/family/adults/racing times. Should have signs on deck below showing whether it's running or not, and most of all, should advise you when purchasing a weekly pass, that it will may be shut down for "X" amount of weather days, and does NOT operate while in ports.

Mandara Spa

5 out of 5

A little pushy with sales, but the massages are well worth it!! We had a 50 min Swedish couples massage, then returned for a 75 min deep tissue massage. Well worth the money!!

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Entertainment we got to wee was great. We reserved for SIX, with about 15 mins left a HVAC fan kicked in and would not stop. They stopped the show and asked us to return to one of the remaining shows (Which were sold out before the ship sailed) so we did not get to see the ending. We booked the Levitiy Comedy show, and they let us know the day of the show that it was cancelled and moved to the Theater on a first come first serve basis, the line was too big to bother trying to get into it. Jersey Boys was a great show, as was Happy Hour. I wanted to, but never did make it to the Beatles show.

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
All staff were amazing!! rooms were well maintained, everyone was friendly. If you asked for it you got it

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was easy to tour, for our first cruise it's hard to compare, but we thought it was well laid out. Only issue we had was the only smoking section (for the wife) was Spice H20 Deck 17 aft. But was quite the party backe there!! Special thanks to Bartenders Harvey and Edgar!!

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin size was good for 2 of us, staff kept it clean, everytime we were out they would be in to clean it/turn up/turn down the bed. Great service!!

Ship tip

Do not buy the weekly pass for go-karts, enjoy the outside decks as much as possible!!

Ports of call

New York, New York

5 out of 5
As flights and transfers were included, we unfortunately did not have time to tour New York. But was great to see from the transfer bus!!

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
We went on the Port Carnaveral Highlights Tour. We visited a lot of places. The Space-X museum, the sight seeing tower, the Shrimp factory. Great informative tour, and we got to taste some new shrimps!

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas Did not visit port

Cancelled due to late Embarkation from New York, and rough seas.

Nassau, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Had a great time in Nassau, took an unplanned horse and buggy ride through the town, shopped at Pandora, and went snorkeling for the afternoon. Great times, great weather!

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Disembarkation was fast and efficient, left our cabin when our letter was called, got in line, was a steady move out, only stopped for about 5 mins, when a Grandfather attacked his Grandson, Security was quick to seperate it and get the line moving again. found our luggage quickly, made our way out of the terminal quickly, asking for the LaGuardia transfer along the way, and was directed right to the bus.
