Review summary

Overall, we like NCL and will sail again. But the Bliss and port of Los Angeles was a joke this trip. Sure wish the Bliss would have several servers per table in the dining rooms. Would help speed up the meal some so people can make it to the entertainment timely. When one waiter is doing all the work and has several tables of large parties, it makes for a very long meal time. Service was really bad this cruise, which was disappointing. 5 of us in our group have cruised 10+ times and never encountered such slow service as this past cruise. Really put a damper on our vacation.

Embarkation

The worst unorganized mess I've ever seen before! The port of LA needs to get it together. Not sure I'll ever go out of this port again.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Food was mediocre at best. The slowest service EVER in the dining rooms. NCL must have been having an off week, bar service and waiters were working as fast as they could, but it took over 2 hours for dinner each night which caused us to miss several shows.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Lots of options. Mostly stayed at the adult section, but it was very crowded as they put the chairs practically on top of one another.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Jersey Boys and Beatles were great, as well as the Six show. Was only able to see comedy one night and he was so-so. I think it deters people from coming to the shows when you have to reserve a ticket and they are always sold out. They do take many more people for the shows, but everyone thinks they cannot go since there are no tickets left. Not a good concept NCL!

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
All staff was very nice and helpful, just didn't seem they had enough workers for 4k people on board. Could be why service was so slow every where! Didn't see our room steward until day 3, even leaving him a note on day 2 but didn't receive our requested items. Many items were not replenished daily. Never had such mediocre service on NCL.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Again, didn't see room steward until day 3. Beds were very hard and feather pillows are a joke! Asked for different pillows, but was told the ship didn't have them. Several things in room were not replenished, not consistent on service. The room amenities were nice. A/C worked but would turn off after it cooled down. You would have to push the "snowflake" button for the A/C to stay on. Not a good quality when you're on a hot cruise!

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

1 out of 5
Port was extremely unorganized both getting on and off the ship! The WORST!

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

5 out of 5
Went on boat over to island, very nice.

Mazatlan, Mexico Did not visit port

Did not get off the boat at this port. Crime is too high and the travel government agency has it in red on the map to avoid visiting this state in Mexico. Not sure why NCL still stops there when it's recommended to not go there.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Very beautiful!

Boat was organized getting off, but the port workers were not!

Thanks for sharing your cruise.

You can reserve tickets for the shows online before you even pack for the trip. That's probably why they're always sold out. You need to get that done early.

You missed out not going to Mazaltlan. Its beautiful. We took the open air cabs and went all over. One of my favorite ports!
