Review summary

We loved this cruise. It was our first time free styling and loved it. It wasn’t as personal, as when you have the same wait staff nightly, but there was so much to do and see we will defy go Norwegian again. Highly recommended.

Embarkation

We were among the first on the ship. Went to the Local for a delicious lunch.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We ate at three of the specialty restaurants. Our favorite was Teppanyaki. Ocean Blue was great. Cagney's was good except for my husbands steak which was gristly. The rest of the food made up for it. Main dining rooms weren’t bad. Buffet was a buffet. Food was repetitious except for main course. Not that great.

The Local Bar & Grill

5 out of 5

Our favorite place. Service was excellent. Food was great.

Cagney's Steakhouse

3 out of 5

Hostess was borderline rude because we’d forgotten our reservation the evening before. All the food was excellent except for the meat. My filet was overdone. My husband’s porterhouse was tasteless and gristly.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We did not do a lot of the activities. Go Kart but while it was fun, it was costly and you had to make reservations. First day we were told none were available. Went back later and had one opening.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
“Jersey Boys” was phenomenal. “Six” was fun. All the shows were enjoyable. The Beatles in The Cavern was so much fun but get there an hour early to get a seat.

Children's Programs

Service and Staff

All were friendly. Only exception was our hostess at Cagney’s. I missed the date and showed up the next evening. Mistakes are made but she was not nice about it. Friends with us commented on her attitude.

Cabin / Stateroom

No complaints.

Ports of call

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

5 out of 5
We did the dolphin experience which was out of town. We left on a boat so did not go into the town itself.

Mazatlan, Mexico

3 out of 5
It was ok. The merchants were relentless wherever we went. We did the topless bus tour to see as much as possible in a short time.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

5 out of 5
Our favorite port. Beautiful, scenic. We toured the Glass Factory and drove to San Juan de Cabo where the tour gave us time to walk through this gorgeous town.

Disembarkation

We self carried our luggage. It started at 7:30. We were at LAX by 8:45
