Review summary

We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and treated our sons and their family to join us. We were disappointed in some things and others were just okay.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The food was just okay. The best dinner by far was in Ocean Blue, but the up charges were unacceptable. We had the specialty restaurant package where you were charged the tax and gratuity up front when you made your cruise reservation. Then when you made your actual dinner reservation you were charged $12 per person. And then there were up charges to order the shrimp cocktail and lobster meals. The rest of the meals at other restaurants were mediocre.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
The pools were always over crowded. No deck chairs to be had. We made reservations for my son & Grandson for the go carts, but when they got there they were not running the double cars and he was too young to drive alone. So he was really disappointed. We were never informed that they do not always run them when we made the reservation. He did however love laser tag.

Entertainment

We loved Jersey Boys. It was almost 2 hours long. Havana was just okay.

Children's Programs

My 8 yr old grandson loved the kid’s club. The workers were great with him as he has Type 1 Diabetes. With the cell phone they gave us we never worried about him and we could enjoy the evening doing adult things.

Service and Staff

Again, just okay. Some of the waiters were personable, but others hardly acknowledged you.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Bliss is similar to the Getaway. All public areas were clean. Certain venues were always crowded. I don’t know if the seas were unusually rough or they were not using the stabilizers, but this ship rocked and rolled almost the whole trip.

Cabin / Stateroom

This room was the worst layout ever! The closet was at the side of the couch with only about a foot between them and very hard to get into. The bed was in front of the sliding door with only about a foot of room to get into that side of the bed. We had adjoining rooms with my son and his wife. Their room was layed out opposite of ours and seemed to have more room to navigate.

Ship tip

Don’t go if you do not like crowds!

Ports of call

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

This is my favorite stop on the cruise ship circuit. We took a taxi to Megan’s Bay. The beach was beautiful as always. We went early so it was not crowded. By afternoon more people came.

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

We took a taxi to Cane Garden Bay Beach. The beach was beautiful, but the ride there was harrowing. Roads are not good. You can still see the destruction of the hurricane.

Disembarkation

The lines were extremely long. The next time I would choose to not check my luggage and do the self disembarking. My son did this and there were no lines. They were the first off the ship.
