We had a wonderful time with our family on this beautiful ship. Lots for kids and young families to do together! We really enjoyed the excellent food, the atrium entertainment, and the beautiful scenery. We’d love to take the Bliss to Alaska some time soon!
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Embarkation was a little chaotic. We had trouble finding baggage check and had to double back. Security was easy and smooth, and our check in desk clerk was very helpfu - even finding a stapler for our luggage tags. However, more staff to direct you would have been helpful. We didn’t know where to go of what to do. Definitely less smooth than other cruise lines I’ve experienced.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We loved the buffet variety! But during times when it was really busy (like breakfast on port days) we went to the Observation lounge to eat. It has less offerings but was plenty for us and it was beautiful. We also enjoyed the observation lounge for tea time and drinks after dinner. We loved Q. The food was delicious and the prices were comparable to a restaurant on land. The main dining rooms were beautiful but they are slow. We are there with just our two kids and it was fine but dining with our large group if 22 (9 kids) was miserable. Just go to the buffet. There are plenty of tables in the back so you can sit together.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
Our family of 4 enjoyed: trivia and family activities, the library with board games and books you can check out for the week, ten pin bowling ($6 per game) and video games, and fitness classes (several are free). Others in our group really enjoyed the pool deck, slides, splash zone, laser tag, and racing.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The shows were entertaining and everyone was professional. Jersey boys was a great show - but due to language I wouldn’t recommend it for children.
Children's Programs
5 out of 5
Kids club was wonderful! The staff was great! My 5 year old loved it and never wanted to be picked up early. Almost every kid in our group (aged 5-10) enjoyed it. The themes were fun and the lobby was decorated each day to reflect the theme. My son loved safari night, the fairytale parade, and the pajama party. We loved the splashtacular extravaganza show when the kids get to perform circus acts in the big theatre! We also loved the family gameahows and storytime. The guppies area was great and my daughter enjoyed the programs offered. It would have been nice to have childcare for the 3 kids in our group who were under the age of 3. I would have even been happy to pay for an hour or 2!
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Our steward kept our room clean and towels plentiful. We had several in our group get sick and those rooms were given a special cleaning and the cruise line checked on them to see if they were feeling better. Which was a nice touch. Each employee I encountered was friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be that when we dined out with our whole group, those with children were not taken care of as well as others. Needing to ask for bread, dessert menus, etc. I’m sure because we were loud and there were so many of us, but still frustrating.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
Loved the ship! Loved the observation lounge. Everything was immaculately clean. The common areas were great. I do wish there was more recreation space, maybe a playground or sports deck since my kiddos don’t prefer waterplay.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Honestly, I was not looking forward to the inside cabin but it was a lot more spacious than I expected. And the bathroom was quite large for a cruise ship room.
Ship tip
Use the observation lounge for breakfast before you disembark. It’s not busy like the main bufft and you can still hear all the PA announcements.
We didn’t end up in the city but in Havensight instead. Which was disappointing. We did not do an excursion at this pier. Just tourist trap stores and we didn’t want to pay a taxi to take us to the main city. Beautiful island though.
Much smoother than embarkation. Again, though, more staff to help would have been appreciated. Our luggage was taken the night before the cruise and that was great!
