Review summary

Back home in Michigan from our first cruise, we just got off the NCL Bliss. My husband and I had a nice long wait in the a Miami Airport. 5 hours. We discussed it and rate our trip a strong 8 + out of ten. Things we loved Free style cruising, dress up or down, and felt very comfortable. The 3 Specialty Dining was included in our trip, but we only used one, Los Lobos. The service was great, the food was very nice, and the guacamole was great. We just prefer to not have to make reservations. We loved the Garden cafe, we had most of our meals there. Very nice selection. Turkey one night, prime rib two nights, grilled everything one night, bbq ribs ect one night. And a seafoods night. In addition to the main theme, they had a pasta station, burger/ hotdog/grilled chicken /French fries station. Indian cuisine, and a Mediterranean type food station. Cold-cuts, cheese, salad bars. There were many sides, desserts, and ice cream. Our stateroom, and room steward(Brian) beautiful... top to bottom Observation lounge 10 out of 10 Beautiful, plenty of seating, nice restrooms, and beautiful continental type breakfast, and lunches. Atrium, lovely, and always hopping with fun activities. (Could use more seating for the shows) Pool deck, a little too crowded on sea days, only able to use on port days. Did find as nice sun deck on 19, outside the Vibe club, and it was lively. My husband thinks there could be more bartenders at the pool bars, the waits could get a little long. I thought the water slides were great. Casino was fun with plenty of selection. (I won $200🤗) Crew was very attentive at guest services, if the lines got long, they would come to you while you were waiting, and see what’s they could help you with. Photo pkg great, BUY in advance, save big money, lots of photo opportunities, make sure to use them. $199 if you purchase in advance, includes 23 photos. If you wait to purchase on board, the same pkg will cost $503. Elevators were probably the biggest issue, with only two sets of elevators, it got crazy. Able bodied people should stairs when possible.(my opinion) Drink pkg well worth it . We also did the crew talent show, and farewell event. Very touching. Bingo, I played once, no luck. Loved the pull tabs. As far as the people saying you would be Nickle/ dimed to death: we spent a total of $200 out of pocket onboard(including $100 in singles, we took for tips). We payed all fees before sailing. No surprises at the end. Also if I could be negative for one minute. The rude people who don’t follow the rules, and allow their children in the adult only pool. Also let the brats eat,and slop their food on the deck, and deck chairs. Run the halls with drinks, and ice creams dripping on the carpeting. ( a few observations) There is no excuse for that. I wish the crew had the ability to crack down on these behaviors. The ship would remain beautiful for much longer. The crew worked so hard keeping up with the maintenance, dusting, wiping, sweeping endlessly. This is a parenting issue, we seem to be experiencing more often these days. This is the best I can do, but I’d gladly sail with NCL again Thank You.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate primarily in the garden cafe, it was perfect. Selection amazing, quality very good, service amazing, seating availability a bit crowded. Los lobos, 4 out of 5. The Local fine pub experience. Observation lounge buffet. Nice selection, beautiful presentation.we did the game shows in

The Observation Lounge

5 out of 5

Beautiful, very nicely set up. Lovely furnishings. Lots of cozy little nooks to sit in. My only complaint would be, It was called an observation lounge. Not a sleeping lounge. Many of the quality seats were taken up by people sleeping half the day. If you need to take your shoes off and lie down because your that tired in my opinion you should go to your cabin

Garden Café

5 out of 5

Beautiful, clean, amazing selection. From entrées two sides to desserts zero complaints. Service attentiveness A plus.Could get a bit crowded at peak hours but there was always a place to sit.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We did the game shows in the atrium*****, spent a good amount of time on deck 19 sun deck *****, talent show*****, casino****(slight Smokey smell even in some free area), Bingo **** a bit pricey, but fun. Main pool deck *** a bit too crowded on sea days, was not able to find a chair. People eating and slopping food in deck, kids were in adult pool. Slides ***** great fun, s

Thought it was set up nice. Great variety of games. Slight odor of smoke. But won a few hundred dollars

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Saw Jersey Boys, great job, great performers, a bit too loud.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Bonnie Page in the Internet cafe helped me through the loss of my phone, was kind, companionate, and went over and above. Brian our room steward was very attentive. The whole staff from the “washy washy crew, to the house keeping staff were all very pleasant.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
97% perfect the ship was beautiful, clean , public restrooms perfect. My only complaint would be the overly crowded elevators. We used the stairs wen only going 3-4 flights. Need to designate on for handicapped only. I felt terrible for people in wheelchairs, or with canes waiting for extended amounts of time. Fellow passengers seemed to show very little empathy.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
It had a sofa and two twins pushed together creating a queen. (We were comfortable) plenty of storage. Small balcony but fine.

Ship tip

Patience around the elevator situation. Just shopped, it was beautiful

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

Expensive, but only did the shopping

Nassau, Bahamas

Very long walk to get to the shops, dirty smells of mold, just not one of my favorite ports

Disembarkation

Love the facial recognition scanners, getting off the ship is very easy. But we had used Norwegian Cruise lines to book our transport to the airport. The lines to get on the bus seemed very hectic, very long and took about 45 minutes. Seemed awful at the time but we got there safe and sound

Great review. Thank uou for taking the time to provide the details and insight. The elevators are always the huge issue on these newer mega city ships. I agree about the HORRIBLE parenting uou described. I have seen the same on the MSC Seaside RCCL Ovation of Seas. I also agree about the handicap elevator NEEDS on these mega ships. I almost got into a fight with past cruisers when I spoke up about rude people not allowing wheelchair kid on an elevator I was on. Some people just are horrible. I look forward to my Bliss cruise in June. Thanks again for the info.
