Norwegian Bliss

7 Night Eastern Caribbean (Miami Roundtrip)

Sail date: January 12, 2019

Ship: Norwegian Bliss

Cabin type: Inside

Traveled as: Family (young children)

Reviewed: 5 years ago

Review summary

Too many people on this boat. It has the same number and size of public areas as smaller Norwegian ships--the company has just stuck in more levels of cabins without providing any extra facilities. If anything, for example, the Bliss Theater is smaller than on another Norwegian boat I've sailed. We were elbow-to-elbow constantly with strangers in order to do anything. Not a relaxing experience for me and not a ship I have any interest in sailing again.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Deeply average. I have better restaurants where I live.

Maltings Whiskey Bar

2 out of 5

Great drinks, dirty glasses. My partner got a Manhattan in a glass that had lipstick all over the rim--wasn't her shade.

Garden Café

3 out of 5

Taste of India was the only food with any taste.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
Nothing interesting.

Entertainment

2 out of 5
Jersey Boys was cut to 1 hour. The onboard musicians were good.

Children's Programs

2 out of 5
Did it with the grandkids. Video arcade is $1.10 to $1.65 for one play. The Guppies area is under-resourced.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our steward was outstanding.

I could not disagree more. We sailed on the Bliss 1 week after. This is our third NCL Cruise, cruising on the Getaway and the Escape prior to cruising on the Bliss. We did not find the common areas smaller or more crowded. If you want a more relaxed and quiet area, the Observation deck on 15 was the place to be. The views were awesome, plenty of comfortable seating, had a bar, and a small buffet for coffee and continental breakfast in the morning and snacks in the afternoon. What was crowded was the elevators, but I can say that about the other cruises I have been on.

Sorry to hear that. Did you go the week of New Years? I heard there were 1800 kids. My week just after was amazing. How could you not loved the go carts, water slides, comedy shows, game shows, casino, specialty rest, ports of call, the ocean. Maybe try another cruise line before you give up cruising.
