Embarkation

Getting on the ship was quick and well organized. Even though we boarded before noon, our cabin was immediately ready and lunch was being served at the buffet.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Save money on alcoholic beverages by making the daily happy hours, normally twice daily. Basically two for one drinks. The Lido Market (buffet dining) was very diverse for all meals. Instead of having heaps of food out for self service, smaller portions were kept on the line and served by staff. This helped keep fresher food on the lines at all times, and likely helped with waste. We enjoyed the formal dining in the evenings. Although the food menu was virtually the same in the Lido Market, everything was prepared to order and very well presented in the main dining rooms. The food and wine selections were excellent.

Onboard Activities

Aft Pool

5 out of 5

This is a great place to relax after a days excursion. The hot tubs are just over 100 degrees and the adjoining pool is about 86. With the cooler air temps this is a nice place to relax with a drink from the pool bar and watch the scenery. Towels and deck blankets are readily available.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Smaller venues compared to larger ships, but variety was very good, as were the performances.

Crow's Next

5 out of 5

This was one of the bars with daily happy hours, and where the trivia and other fun events were held. The view during the day was fantastic, and a great place to relax in the evening.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was very easy to get around on, and was kept in very good order. I'd read previous reviews where some complained the ship looked "tired" and in need of updating, but this was generally note what we found. We've been on large, visually stimulating ships before, but this is not what we wanted on an Alaska cruise. Spending time on deck being visually stimulated is where we spent our time, not in floating shopping malls.

Ship tip

If you don't mind an inside cabin but would like a larger one, consider the mid deck cabins on decks 6, 7 and 8
