Mostly wonderful with one exception. The way I was treated after a traumatic injury to my head, shoulder and face due to a trip and fall on deck.

Review summary

This was a beautiful cruise. Everything worked like clockwork. With all the moves we had starting with Vancouver to the ship to different excursions & transfers to two different hotels we never felt like we didn't know what to do next. Would we be met on time?, would our luggage be there? etc. Very good experience. The unfortunate thing was my accident on deck on our first day. My face was so banged up that I didn't want to appear in public, missed the first gala event. My mouth and teeth were so banged up I was in pain all the time and eating was difficult. So we certainly didn't get all that we hoped to and our enjoyment was was definitely diminished. So sad for us both as we were so excited to experience this once in a lifetime gift from our children for our 60th anniversary.

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Not up to 1983 standards (our first cruise with H.A. for 25 anniversary) Why specialty restaurants? Why not serve great food to everyone like back then? It was usual moderately priced American restaurant food. Nothing special, but well done.

Onboard Activities

N/A. Didn't get involved because of my accident.

Entertainment

What we saw we enjoyed. The comedian and the magician were very entertaining. Missed their first shows because of my accident

We had an unpleasant experience with medical. We went down for help after I tripped on a bolt holding a lamp on aft deck. Apparently after hours, 6:45pm. A tall Caucasian woman in a uniform who spoke with an accent and appeared to be in charge was upset we went down after hours. She took us to first aid anyway, but it was obvious they didn't want to disturb the doctor & convinced we come back in the morning. My lips were smashed, whole right side of my face black & blue, my front teeth loosened ane one chipped, R shoulder injured, and a very bad headache. Went back in morning & filled out report. Dr. said I was probably OK. Did I have anything for pain?, I said ibuprofen, but I was worried because I had headache, and did not want to take anything that may cause bleeding. She offered Tylenol, but I declined because of being on chemo that is already hard on liver. She said not to worry, go ahead and take the Ibuprofen, bad advise as I probably had a concussion. To top it off I was charged for going there??? Why?? Also the night before when I 1st went in I was told it would cost me considerately more money if they had to call the Dr. after hours. I feel they showed a lack of consideration for my injury. Their insensitivity for not wanting to be bothered by me and charging me for an accident which was caused by the placement of the large bolts holding the lights on deck.
