I have cruised on carnival, royal Caribbean, celebrity and on Norwegian many times. Holland America was for the first time and I will never go back. Mainly because nobody ever offered an apology for messing something up... Weather it was the credit card, suitcase, ac, wine charges, lost bottles, overcharge or simply forgetting to make your order...
Embarkation

Disorganized, they forgot to scan credit card (???), put wrong luggage tag on one of our suitcases, barcode didn't scan to get on the vessel, just very poorly executed...
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Dinning room staff friendly but not good. We ordered wine package, they didn't charge it immediately and so when we ordered first bottle, they overcharged us and it took them 3 days to fix it. Didn't mark our bottle of wine and my dinner was nearly over before they found it.
Pizza shop took our order, after 20 mins and watching them play on their phone, they never started our order... In any case, not once they offered an apology...

Ship Quality
3 out of 5
Older ship, very low ceilings, our room was located in the middle and the ac was terrible... Had to ask for a floor fan. Very warm room, even in December it was warm. No mid ship lobby with usually chandelier and some nice glass designs, tall several floors...
Beach was great, lunch bbq as well. However the ship bar was pretty bad experience. The drinks we ordered, strawberry daiquiri came out tasting as carrot daiquiri, and no straws, extremely long time to get made and the bar was pretty much empty
If all the “I will never set foot on another of their ships again” people mean what they say, those of us that enjoy it should get some great deals, assuming the cruise lines can stay in business.
