Review summary

Even though this was a late in the season Alaska cruise we were excited to be back cruising. Holland America made this cruise safe and very efficient. As usual, Holland America's crew members provided excellent service throughout. The Neiuw Amsterdam is a beautiful ship and seemed to be very clean and well maintained.

Food and Dining

The Pinnacle Grill was fantastic. The main dining room was great, good food and as always, excellent service. The lido deck buffet was much better organized than on prior cruises.

The Pinnacle Grill provides excellent food with equally excellent service. The prices are also very reasonable.

Onboard Activities

EXEC talks were excellent and informative. Pools were great but were sometimes closed due to rough seas.

Great comedy acts. The dancing acts seemed somewhat amateur.

Art Gallery

Unfortunately Holland America and Park West Gallery parted ways which left Holland America without a fine art auction venue. Having a live fine art auction onboard provided art seminars and art purchases for many art lovers who cruise.

Ship seemed extremely clean. Service workers were always cleaning no matter what time of day.

Cabin / Stateroom

We had a verandah which was very nice, comfortable and clean. We normally stay in a Neptune suite but this seemed to have adequate space for us.

Disembarkation was fast and smooth. Holland had different time segments for groups of passengers.
