Very disappointing... by RoMa4422

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Europe - Mediterranean

My family and I have cruised on board the Navigator in 2005 and was disappointed to see the negative changes...pls see below. Overall ship appears ok but, worn out and tired. Badly in need of refurbishing. Some areas of the ship's hallways and pucture frames are banged up. Deck 6 hallway smells of mildew or something foul. The carpets are faded and stained. 1st night's dinner in the dining room was below average: the salmon, in several occasions was over cooked and dry. The creme brûlée at multiple times looked like the sugar on top was just hurriedly dumped in the middle and was caramelized! On another note, both specialty restaurants food and wait staff were excellent! All staff members we've been un contact with were wonderful, warm and professional. Many areas of the ship showed sime neglect. Specifically the Desk/phone stand by the Nutcracker does not look like it's been dusted or polished in awhile! Likewise the Internet cafe was sub-standard from the stations being sticky and dusty to the very expensive fees for a snail's pace connection/speed. It took 15mins to send ONE email message! Lastly, sodas and specialty coffees are extra charges! Gone are the days when cruising was all inclusive!

great food outstanding service in the cabins, and most outstanding service in the restaurant areas, including the buffet. Great costumer service clean and organized all throughout the ship Great entertainment, and facilities exceptional crew members, most professionalism to include all kitchen staff and servers I am impressed by this cruise ship level of professionalism, and i stress on the quality rendered by all the staff of on the cruise to have been the best i have ever encountered, This cruise as impressed me on every aspect, and the dedication of the staff to ensure that the guest were made comfortable, and entertained by providing services left me speechless. I will stress, however, most outstanding the kitchen staff, cooks, servers, cleaning crew.

europe mediterranean april 21,2013 by lucie12

First of all, I enjoyed the cruise very much. This was my first seven days cruise and I had a lot of fun. I was giving a delta reservation number which happens to be Alitalia. I requested a table for 2 at dinner and we were on a table for 6, but we manage. the worst part was that we could not bring an iron on board and was charged $70 for ironing our clothes, I think that was outrageous. Now I know what to do next time. Order than that everything was fine. I will definitely cruise with Royal Carribean again.

Wanted to Stay Longer by MamaG

The friendly and attentive staff made us feel pampered every moment on our cruise. The only down side would be the dinner menu as it is very heavy on seafood dishes and I do not eat seafood, I would have liked more entree options.

Royal Caribbean is Cutting Back! by TeacherBarb

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Royal Caribbean is cutting back on basic amenities; at least that was our experience with our recent (March 23, '13) cruise on Navigator of the Seas. Although there was a liquid soap container on the shower wall, we were given no individual sized creme rinse, shampoo, lotion, or body soap. In fact, we didn't even get a chocolate on our pillows at night! RC advertises that Platinum class gets robes upon request; we were told that this is no longer the case. I asked our room steward if this was a mistake and he told us that RC is cutting back on some amenities, the aforementioned included. When I explained that we flew with as few liquids as possible and had nothing, our steward called his supervisor to get permission to give us hair conditioner and hand lotion. Apparently, our class, which is the Emerald level. is NOT given basic items that are expected when one stays in a paid accomodation. On RC, one needs to be at the diamond level for those perks. The matress was thin and uncomfortable and the pillows worse. I didn't sleep well. However, the room was quiet. The entertainment was spectacular, as has always been our experience with RC. Service was good; food was just average. My husband and I enjoyed our trip, and although we've traveled with RC many times before, I think we will choose a different cruise line for future travel. There are times when pinching pennies gets to the point where a company loses repeat customers and future business. This may be such an example. (When talking with a few different fellow passengers, they all said that they would probably travel on different cruise lines in the future.)

review..... from a southernbell . by southerbelle

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

the only negative of the whole cruise ,was the PHOTO: portrait situation they are poorly trained ,and extremely rude, and a waste of time, energy and money.and a middle aged latina women with her 4 inch couch and pic frame and no other options, dont recall her name but im sure you'll hear it from someone else, but this Mark guy is on a whole other level of "Not mentaly fit to deal with the public" Mark is condescending and rude ,he actually flip his hand up in my mothers face " talk to the hand" style .. and walked away from her and started helping someone else.so thats the negative ...... POSITIVES :the rm attendants were so great ,and the wait staff top notch in all the restraunts and Bars..very attentive, and we recieved a wonderful massage from "the spa" the Best !! .one thing comes to mind.as someone who doesn't drink( alcohol or sodas or artificial sweetners) ,it would be nice to have some better" ice tea" options perhaps some flavors(peach or rasberry, unsweetened )ect. ,because thats what people from the south drink ,we enjoy our iced teas,!!!!,I have cruised before, on "Freedom of the seas" and they had shower eminity's,which was nice, if you have to fly in from another locatation ,like the rest of my family did ..we drove in from Atlanta to New Orleans,And we brought everything ,so i found the shower soap dispencer "amusing".was happy with the rest of the room ,mini fridge wasn't cold ,so just ordered alot of ice(again rm att fabulous)... when embarking there was an unpleasant oder ,upon entering the ship...but being on the 10th floor it didnt bother us again till the disembarking on the same floor area...maybe some new carpet in that area..I was really happy about hand sanitizers everywhere ...and again can't say enough good things about the wait staff/Rm attendants..overall i had a Great time with 10 of my family members.so thankyou for that........... and good luck with your "affore mentioned" problem areas...

The cruise of a life time by CarmelitaClaire

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I am giving 4 star review because the first day of our cruise an employee lost our seapast while we are waiting to see somebody to talk to change our dining arrangement and we waited long time and they never call us.We ask the employee why we are not called and they told us to just wait untill our name will be called. We are tired of waiting to be called and we ask the employee to see our seapast and she cant locate she lost it. Its upsitting to be in line to the customer relation to tell them to cancell the first seapast because the employee lost our seapast while we are suppost to be enjoying our first day.Otherwise I should given 5 star. After that everything went well our land tour is great we took the Turttle tour in grand cayman, and we took the City tour plantation with lunch in Jamaica it was very enteresting tour.

ROYAL CARIBBEAN 7-DAY WESTERN CRUISE by fun4us

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our second Royal Caribbean cruise and I must say it was just as wonderful as the first. The service is impeccable! There was always something fun to do and the food was great. However, they did need some improvement on their desserts and the photography wasn't up to par. We were amazed at how well organized and quick the boarding and deboarding was. We have cruised with many other cruiselines but so far we think Royal is the best!

The ship itself was beautiful, was my first time on Royal Caribbean, the entertainment was very poor and the food wasn't anything great. Our stewart for our room was excellent and our head waitress was great. This was our 6th. cruise and I much prefer Princess Cruise line.

Royal Caribbean Cruise 2013 by purplesandy

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I would cruise with RRC again. They have the best service. All of the staff were very polite and professional. The food in the main dining room was very good. The Windjammer although had some good things, there were times the food was fair. The ice cream machine which was available anytime should have real ice cream and not ice milk. Overall I rate the experience highly and will go again.

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple

We did this same cruise about 8 years ago, it was our first cruise. Since then we have been on about 10 or more cruises. This specific cruise is a good place for first timers to start.

Cruise from New Orleans by Marybee

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Overall this cruise was good. The dining room people and room attendant were excellent. The bar service was fair. Sometimes it was " how can't we help you". The entire bar servers should know about all special pricing. As usual the shore excursions were twice as pricey for the same tours directly from the provider. There were no self laundry facilities. This would be a major reason not to cruise with Royal Caribbean for more than seven days. The food was good as well as the selection, except for the crawfish they were nasty. The shows were also good, the productions were lacking in some respects.

Was a great cruise except for the opening of the door on balcony. Took 6 days to open. Service and food was great. Getting on and off the ship was easy and fast. College spring break but everyone was well behaved and had a great time.

Excellent by queen

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our 7th cruise on RCL. Our overall experience on Navigator of the Seas was excellent. Our dining experience in Swan Lake at table 502 was fun and the servers couldn't have been more attentive. The food was excellent each evening. The service and friendliness throughout the ship was outstanding and our cabin steward (#7520) was gracious, attentive and always had terrific 'animals' awaiting us each evening. The entertainment was outstanding. I would highly recommend Navigator, and having sailed on other RCL ships, I would highly recommend the entire cruiseline fleet. FIVE STARS AGAIN!

Navigator of The Seas Family Cruise 2/23/13 by Palermitano

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Very good experience over all. I would certainly recommend this cruise to everyone, alhough I have to say that the ship is starting to show signs of its age. Good food... and we are restaurant owners and very discriminating eaters, good shows... and there was a real Orchestra, and enough space for adults only in the Solarium pool. The excursions were fantastic, with the only exception of Cozumel that we will certainly not visit again. It didn't look and feel safe and the people were extremely pushy towards the turists. Jamaica and Grand Cayman were fantastc. We will definitely cruise RC again, but this time we will choose either a newer ship or a ship that has just been re-juvinated. Finally the service, from the dining room, to the buffet, to the stateroom, to the bars and snack areas... you can't fnd any better. Gracious, respectful and happy people. How do they do that????

Little Expensive by notacruiser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

I have to rate the cruise high for the crew and all the workers on the ship but was very disappointed in the extra expense on board that was not expected. The liquour was extremely high so we did not or could not afford to indulge too much, bottled water come on $4.95 for the liter bottle that is over 50% mark up. It is too bad the company who runs the ship puts such high prices because that just reduces the tips for workers that work very hard. Probably will not go on another cruise.

Navigator of the Seas, February 23, 2013, New Orleans by WeLoveCruisin

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Navigator of the Seas / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our first time cruising out of NO and only our second Royal Caribbean cruise. Our first was last October on the Allure of the Seas. We worried we'd be disappointed with the ship, since we most recently cruised on the Allure. We decided to book an oceanview room instead of our usual balcony room. The room was very narrow and small, however we were amazed at the amount of storage in it. Every nook and cranny had some type of place for storage. Although our room was at the very front of the ship and on Deck 2, it was quite comfortable and we didn't notice any, or very little movement, which was a big concern of ours. Our bed was up against the window wall and at the foot of the bed, there was a curtain that could be closed off from the rest of the room, making it feel like the bedroom was seperate. This was very nice as my wife was usually up before me and never was I disturbed by her moving around the room. The bathroom was adequate but small. I did however, notice a sewer like smell in the bathroom on a couple of days. I think it may have been due to a clog in the plumbing as I noticed outside our room, some of the ceiling panels had been removed by the maintenance people. The ship itself was very beautiful, especially the public areas. The Royal Promenade made us feel like we were at a mall, instead of being on a ship. The stores carried the usual stuff found on cruiseships, liquor/cigarettes, clothing items, perfume etc. Several days into our cruise they set up tables in the promenade with sale items such as inexpensive watches, ($10) and some jewelry items and also some liquor sampleing. I must mention, I purchased one of those ($10) watches, only because I forgot mine at home and after taking it back to my room and trying it out, it stopped working. When I went to return it, a crew member told me that I would need to speak to the manager. I did and explained to him that the watch was not working. He asked me if I wanted another one and I told him no, I figured another one would be no better than this one, and his response to me was, "You should make sure you like something, before you buy it". I was shocked and a bit insulted. I later decided not to make any more purchases on board. The food in the main dining room was very good most nights and the desserts were to die for. We had reserved the 6 P.M. seating but when we got on board, we discovered that it was changed to 5:30P.M. That was inconvenient for us as we had many excursions planned on the different ports we visited and had to rush when we got back to make the 5:30 dinner. A few nights we ate in the cafeteria style restaurant, Windjammer, but found it very crowded and disorganized, people everywhere and sometimes difficult to get a seat. On days at sea the main dining room was opened for breakfast and lunch, so we chose to eat there, much more relaxed and the service was very good.
