Review summary

Ship was clean, food good. Minimal shopping though. Different dress nights were downplayed unfortunately. That is part of the fun. Enjoyed the adult pool area. Good ship in general.

Embarkation

smooth, almost too easy. not that I am complaining. :-)

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was less fancy than the old days but still very good, above what one would usually cook at home, and varied. My partner was very happy with the indian food. I can't cook it so he was delighted. Desserts were nice. Serving size on first glance seemed smallish but we walked out very sated. One soda machine on promenade was broken all week. The deli should have olives, charcuterie, and tomato salad like other ships. Pizza looked tired. Cookies good.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Did the sushi class (for a second time.) Preferred the adult pool area. not a problem to get a lounge.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The comedian was very good. Mike Pace. Other dance, music shows were good too.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
waiters, Marian and Jason were very good, prompt and conciencious. Friendly. Steward was Mahesh? He was invisible but bed was made , towels replaced as they should be. We are low maintenance so we were happy.

Cabin / Stateroom

small. we had the king configuration. The desk hit right up against the bed on one side. The couch was comfy but it hit right up against the bed on that side. you had to sit on the end, roll around to get your legs on the side and then work on getting into the bed. Refrigerator is now merely a cooler. If you want a cold drink from it, forget it. On the 8th deck you could still feel the engines because 8383 was in the very back of the ship.

Ship tip

Wash, wash, wash your hands. Experienced the stomach bug on last 2 days and beyond.

Ports of call

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

warehouse like but efficient. We forgot to print luggage tags but that was handled painlessly.

Ensenada, Mexico

Been there before so our stay was brief. Enjoyed it

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

I always love Cabo. THe jitneys were okay. handled well.

Mazatlan, Mexico

3 out of 5
We had an excursion to the rural areas scheduled. It was canceled due to violence from rival cartels battling over turf after arrest of a couple cartel heads. Last time there we had an excursion planned also. It also went bad. SO, don't bother with a Mazatlan excursion.

Disembarkation

smooth. they kick you out of your room at 8am. I think it used to be 11. We had an 11:30 flight so not a problem. Painless to get an uber and get to long beach airport.
