Review summary

I would do again because of the relaxation factor that cruising gives me. I'll bring a mattress pad next time. 😆

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Very chaotic, people cutting in line, that were not necessarily at the correct boarding time. Nobody in forcing boarding times. This is compared to our beginning of summer trip on Carnival in Seattle.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
All the food was great!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
My 13 year old loved this cruise because of the activities. He loved the water slides, even I loved the waters slides, highlight of our trip. Only con was sports activities were overrun by the same group of boys, never an opportunity to participate because they would sign up first and not enough time for multiple games.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Production shows were ok, kind old school. Love costumes and props, songs were ok. Live band poolside was great and so nice and relaxing, gave the feeling of vacation.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
MDR staff were great! Only con Flow rider staff were not patient with new flow riders, only gave special attention to those that were good at it and would not give equal amounts of time for new riders. Also, rock wall attendants were not helpful, for new climbers. You would think they were hired to be helpful. Room steward was great until I left his extra tip out, he disappeared with the tip and failed the final night to bring towels, add more soap to dispenser and take trash, I had to call for service and no thank you. Don't leave your tip laying around. Overall all staff did a good job.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Felt the ship was clean overall. Only the daybeds in the Casitas can use some cleaning or replacement, dirty and worn out.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Interior for 2, myself and teenage son. Plenty of space, bath room good. Only con th beds were hard, really didn't like them. Woke up with back pain and hard to fall asleep. I like firm beds but this was a rock, even my teenager complained about how hard it was.

Ports of call

Ensenada, Mexico

3 out of 5
Didn't do anything, just walked around.

Catalina Island, California

2 out of 5
Not what I expected. Highlight was dole whip.

San Pedro (Los Angeles), California

2 out of 5
Spent our day before the cruise in Long Beach, San Pedro was run down, hotel Crown Plaza was very close to the port but under construction and not a comfortable stay, no a/c, but that's another review.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Easy and seemless. Long lines the longer you wait to disembark.

I agree with you on the beds! For some reason, both of my experiences with RC had uncomfortable beds. I even had the mattress changed on my first RC cruise.
