Review summary

Here are the reasons why I would not recommend Royal Caribbean and Navigator of the Seas, it would be unfair to tell someone that they are going to receive all that you offer.  It all started with my time dinning; the wait staff was inattentive, it took over 10 minutes for the first wait staff to bring us water and at the same time staff from the specialty restaurants were soliciting our business, this is in very poor taste. We went to see a manager, to be moved to traditional dinning, we were moved, and what a difference. Our waiter and staff were great, they were very attentive to everyone's dinning needs. Much to our surprise, the attire that was allowed during dinner was socking, we saw everything from t-shirts and shorts to jeans. This also took place on formal nights.  For the rest of the cruise staff, there wasn't a smile or attentive service to be found anywhere throughout the ship, with the exception of one bartender, Luiz from Boleros.  He was very pleasant and very attentive.  The only other member of the staff that was very attentive was our cabin steward, whenever we asked something of him, he took care of our request.

I Agee that the navigator was below par. I have been on many cruises and though the staff on the navigator was not attentive. Our dinners in the dining room took almost an hour to get to our tables and the waitstaff seemed super stressed. I thought the entertainment was very poor compared to other cruise entertainment. We we very disappointed.

Your cruise vacation is what you make it! Life is not perfect & neither is a vacation . . .

I would assume you probably didn't smile at any of the cruise staff either? just a guess.... dress code.... well yes it's gotten very relaxed, however a 1k suit or tux to me or your maybe be formal where nice slacks/jeans and a polo might be for someone else. There money is worth the same as yours am I right?. If you paid for your cruise and they there's just accept it and strike up a conversation. I wear a Suit and Tie 18-20hrs a day, I take one cruise a year maybe I don't want to dress up lol. Plus if you really want to separate yourself from the common folk go dine at the specialty restaurant every night (if you pre pay for every night, they give you a huge break fyi).... Chances are that "Farmer", pants and polo guy probably makes twice what you do anyway. Enjoy... sounds like maybe Holland America would be more up your alley. Navigator here we come again Match 17-26th All Smiles and Non Fancy Pants! :-)

I feel very sad for people that at least could were a neck tie,but ,it is their loss,Just think about yourself, otherwise,it is going to distract from YOUR holiday. Think about yourself, and enjoy the occasion ,xxxx

exnasma68 That is a suggested dress code. I am to focused on having a great time with my family. Don't have time to focus on how the person next to me is dressed. We have invested to much money in our cruises not to have a great time.

My wife and I just came off Navigator of the Seas this morning. Let me say, we had a fabulous time and RCI met all of our expectations. mrdan16 had issues with the dining room dress code and some of you had differing comments regarding the dress code. Here is my spin on the dress code on cruises. First, if you were invited to a wedding and the invite said "formal attire", would you show up in a tee shirt, cargo shorts and flip flops? I certainly hope not. So, if the cruise lines asks you to dress a certain way, I find it very disrespectful to the cruise line, their staff and your fellow passengers to ignore that request. Apparently, the dining room staff doesn't want to offend the passengers who show up in shorts and ball caps. But, they don't seem to realise that they are offending all those who do follow the suggested dress code. When I wear my tux on formal nights I expect that my table mates will at least wear pants, shoes, a collared shirt and a neck tie. I often hear people say that they are on vacation and that they don't dress up on vacation. Well, the buffet doesn't have a strict dress code, so perhaps that would be a good alternative for formal nights. Or, perhaps those that insist on dressing down could be seated together in another area of the dining room. The Navigator of the Seas has one of the most elegant dining rooms at sea. Again, to me, you should dress accordingly for that venue. Finally, I feel that the cruise lines should look for a way to accommodate all passengers and their desired dress codes without offending their fellow passengers. And, if they establish a dress code then they should enforce it.

We are going to be sailing in the Navigator this coming Friday! I'm sure it will be a wonderful time as always on RCI! Who cares what others wear..it's vacation!!

I am about to cruise on Navigator of the Seas for the 2nd time in two years!! I have never had bad service, all the ship staff has always been attentive, kind and full of smiles!!! This will be my 4th cruise with Royal Caribbean and I will never sail any other cruise line!! It seems to me you expect perfection and because u didn't get it give it a bad review!! U were on vacation where u didn't have to cook, clean or or work!! Remember the ship staff has to serve everyone and sometimes you have to have patience and wait! U are not the only customer or person on the ship!! Maybe u would be better served going to a resort!!

I love Royal Caribbean and the Navigator and never had any of the problems you seemed to find. Our DINING room staff was beyond professional and attentive and we always experienced friendliness from the crew. You were paying too much attention to what others were wearing, what possible difference does it make to you. Do RCI a favor and pick another cruise line.

Isn't it interesting how someone else's shorts can ruin your vacation? And not one smile, nor attentive staff member! It's almost like it's just too hard to believe...

medan16 I would not concern myself how others are dressed for dinner. I would be to focused on enjoying myself. we pay to much money for cruises to focus on orther dress.
