Review summary

This was my first time cruising with Royal Caribbean. I've heard so many good things about Royal Caribbean cruises, so I guess I had my hopes up high. The inside cabin was spacious. The food was tasty, but the Main Dining Room needed more of a variety. The staff were great. The entertainment crew was OK. The club played Techno music all night. I guess overall the cruise was alright.  The only issue I had was the fact that due to unforeseen circumstances, we were unable to dock in Labadee, Haiti. This gave us an additional day at sea which is not what we paid for.  To add insult, they refunded us $8 and some cents for not being able to go to Labadee. Really!!! I'm not sure if I would cruise with Royal Caribbean again, but if I do it will not be on Navigator of the Seas.

The reason it couldn't go to Labadee, Haiti was because of unrest in the area due to protesters. Haiti's elections were supposed to take place in January and because of corrupt politicians it never happened and the people protested and blocked access to Labadee. Had nothing to do with the ship. As far as the $8, that's probably what they charged you to stop at that port. All cruise lines charge a port fee and it varies from port to port what the charge is.

I have done Carnival and Norwegian. RC is heads and shoulders better unless you are looking for the singles scene.

I have cruised on the Navigator and Carnival Magic , Carnival Freedom, Carrebean Princess. my favorite ship is Navigator of the seas, best good carnival ships. We were unable to go to Freeport Bahamas due to weather when we were on the Magic. Also unable to go to Belize because of weather that was on Freedom. They don't have a port so It was tri dangerous to put people in Ferry boats. we were disappointed but it does happen. Hope your next cruise is better.

my husband and I are cruising April 16 on the Navigator. Our first RC. I was hoping for better everything over Carnival.

I went on that same ship once. It's nice but I do remember preferring the food choices and entertainers on Carnival. If you take children with you I think carnival is a better choice as well.

I want to say I saw this post before. Read your contract...if for some reason a port has to be missed, they ONLY refund port fees (8.??). You are paying for a cruise, food, lodging. Not ports, even though most cruise to visit places. So if this is the reason you would not cruise with RC, just know this is policy of all cruise lines. (port fees - refund only)
