Review summary

I did not receive adequate information to prepare for the cruise. While the we received our excursion tickets, we didn't see anything in the daily news regarding the need for tender tickets or other information regarding leaving me he ship and gathering for the excursion. This was the reason the excursions were booked through Royal Carribean. It was very disappointing.

The food in the Windjammer buffet was not the best. I expected better than cold cuts, hamburgers, and hotdogs. We were not informed that the dining room was available for lunch. May have been an improvement over the Windjamer Cafe. The exit from the Galveston port took way too long. I overheard several complaints from other passengers as I was departing. I was very disappointed with the cruise. I will definitely return to other cruise lines I have previously sailed with and definitely choose a different port to depart.

We did the self check (had a 1:00 flight) to get off the ship.  The line was very long but moved very fast, we were off the ship in less than an hour!! The compass told you everyday what time the dining room and the Windjammer were open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!!  I thought the food was so good and I could find food whenever I wanted (I put on 7lbs on this cruise ugh!!) We didn't know about the tender tickets either (we missed it in the compass) but that is our fault!  However we caught on quick because they only announced about the tickets every 15 mins.  You sometimes have to take charge of your own vacation and not sit and wait for people to tell you things.  Next time do a little research and lighten up!  After all life is to short and isn't that what vacations are for??? Relax!!

Any beginner cruisers: I totally disagree with this post and 100% agree with all the comments! this was my first cruise with RC and will NOT be my last. I just got off the ship on Sunday, which is probably the same cruise discussed here, and it was fantastic!

3. the food. as other people have already stated, there are plenty of food options besides the wind jammer. also outside the main dinning room there are signs posted that they will open for breakfast and dinner. 4. all ports are crazy!! obviously you have never left out of Miami!! furthermore, I have to agree that your post is a little ridiculous! im sorry that you didnt have a good time on your cruise but information you say you never received is everywhere on the ship!! maybe next time you should ask your room tenant to personally read you the ship news letter every morning while you get dressed. better luck to you next go-around.

1. "did not receive adequate information to prepare for the cruise". Where did you try looking? by simply going to the royal Caribbean website they have tons of information for you before you leave. Or if you used a travel agent you im sure they gave you everything you needed before boarding. 2. if you have your excursion tickets in those tickets it said what to do before you head off the ship, ie. tender information. for my last cruise we had to meat in the theatre and wait for our numbers to be called to get on the tenders. there were also numerous announcements saying the same thing.

From leaving our cabin to being on the road to home.....57 minutes, not bad for any port. Your excursion ticket should say when and where to meet. Ours did.

To answer your comment about disembarkation in Galveston. Galveston is not a port where an airport is minutes away. Most passengers drive to the port therefore most passengers want to leave at the same time resulting in a bottle neck situation. It's like driving in Houston during rush hour...it's the same day after day and you either go extra early to allow for traffic or you simply take your time.

FYI, departing from most ports are bad. Think about that everyone is leaving at same time unlike getting on when it varies somewhat. How does your other port manage to be successful unless you have VIP status? Furthermore, as a non first timer on other line, you know that food is always options at other venues. No cruise has only one eating place. Windjammer is an option.

I know most lines put the meeting place information on the excursion tickets themselves.

I have also seen, on several cruises, when doing the Lido buffet, people only stop at the first station, or set of stations, they see. keep going, there are, on most ships, additional buffet stations serving different foods. Don't like burgers, etc.? , mosey on in to the carving station for roast beef or ham, or Italian, or a super salad bar. Yes, the burger grill may be the first thing you see, but explore all the options before choosing to complain they only had burgers and fries.

I was remiss in not also mentioning that Stateroom Crew are priceless too! If none of the other systems work, the Crew members are an incredible source.

I apologize CTGaudin, because this IS an open forum and all opinions are welcomed, but truly, your review is absolutely the most unfair I've ever seen. If you chose to not read through the Cruise Compass which is delivered to your room daily (and is also available at the Customer Service Desk AND on the Digital displays throughout the ship) nor listen to any of the many announcements throughout the day (and repeated at the evening shows), then you certainly may feel lost on the Ship. Others reading your review will be appalled, thinking that food isn't available...follow your nose, or follow the other 3000 people who knew where to find the food. The Dining Room and The Windjammer are open for all three main meals and if their extended hours weren't enough, there is a great variety of food and beverages 24/7 at The Promenade Deck cafe. Personally, I applaud Royal Caribbean for their outstanding varied communications with the Cruisers and oh yes, the food was fantastic and available in numerous places.
