Pleasantly surprised and would definitely cruise with MSC again!

Review summary

After reading reviews, we came to the cruise with low expectations. However, MSC exceeded our expectations with food, service and especially the theater shows. Ocean Cay was absolutely gorgeous! We will sail with MSC again!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We have cruised with Carnival & NCL. MSC was by far the fastest and easiest embarkation that we've ever experienced.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Drinks were always well made. Coffee was the best we've had on a cruise ship. MDR was also very good. Buffets were good too - lots of variety. We appreciated the ethnic section. Our only complaint was that the dinner buffet was similar, if not the same as lunch.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We enjoyed the pools and the spa. The spa was amazing. We wished that there was more music playing at the main pool.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The Adult Entertainment team were great! They kept the energy going from morning till evening. Peter Punk & The Michael Jackson show were great! We also enjoyed live music all over the ship and everyone was really entertaining.

Children's Programs

We did not bring children.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Service was just as good or better as other ships. Bartenders and waiters worked very hard so that we rarely had to wait long for service. Our MDR waiters were especially attentive - Manual & Akit (sp?) at table 475. The spa staff were also very helpful and friendly.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
We loved the ship's design. Most of the areas seemed clean. Our only concern was that there wasn't hand sanitizer as many places as there should be. Also, soap dispensers were often empty.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Bed and pillows were comfy. Room was large enough. The couch looked pretty old and ragged so we only used it to prop up our luggage.

Ship tip

Pay attention to bathroom locations. I got lost a turned around a few times looking for bathrooms.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

4 out of 5
Getting into the terminal took forever. I'm not sure if they have a separate line for shuttles and buses, but we seemed to be in the super long line with everyone else.

Nassau, Bahamas Did not visit port

We wanted to relax in the spa and explore the ship.

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

5 out of 5
This island was our favorite part of the cruise. It was super clean and breath takingly beautiful. Service was excellent at the Lighthouse Bar. I wish there were more stores with local wares and also more MSC branding items for sale. We didn't buy anything on this ship and we always do on other cruise lines.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Again, this was the fastest and easiest disembarkation experience we've ever had on a cruise.
