We will never use MSC again. A complete disappointment. We choice this cruise because it was shorter than what we generally cruise and we went to a place we were familiar with so comparing cruise lines were fair. MSC did not add up and we wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.
Embarkation

MSC a did a good job of getting guests through the customs process and getting on the ship in an orderly and efficient manner.

Food and Dining

We did not use the specialty dinning. The main dining room was okay. Our first night, I ordered a NY Strip steak, it was dry and the texture was more microwaved than grilled, my husbands Salmon was fair. The second night was Italian night, my chicken parmigiana was fair, pretty tasteless and my husbands pasta primavera was flat and bland. No fresh cheese was offered to grind over the top of dinner, it may have helped. The buffet was as bad as it gets! Lines were a constant due to guests having to wait for food to be cooked. There was never enough of anything ready, cheeseburgers at the grill were always running out, toppings for burgers were not typical tomato, lettuce, pickles, bacon, no BBQ sauce or honey mustard for the chicken nuggets and the pizza was soggy and lacked in flavor. The rotisserie section of the buffet didn’t do any better. Again, items were never ready, bins empty, cooks ignoring guests when asked if more items would be ready. No ice cream machine either, just a pet peeve. We were disappointed in options of places to eat. Other cruise lines offer a coffee bar-maybe a Starbucks-pizzeria, or snack shop, none on this ship! The places to eat were 2 buffets, the main dining and specialty restrooms. There was a gelato bar which was not included in the drink package as it is with other cruise lines.

Entertainment

The ships shows were seen by reservation only due to the number of guests. With other cruise lines, drinks are offered during the show, not here, only a show in theater seating. The first show was okay, it didn’t t make sense to some in the audience, French dancers were the main singers while backup dancers and singers were in Carnival type attire. The second show, the talent shined, it was incredible! The entertainers put on quite a show with tumbling, juggling, magic, and singing and dancing. The last two shows, were okay.
Service and Staff

Our room steward was wonderful. He was polite, personable, accommodating and upbeat, he was wonderful! Bar staff actually could be quite rude! I never had a bar tender make a face and tell me, “Fine” when I asked for two glasses of ice for bottled water that was still warm. Customer service wasn’t a priority.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The buffet was very dark, and not laid out in a traffic moving pattern, it was impossible not to have lines and constantly walk into people. The overall design was typical of cruise ships, nothing stood out.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The room was clean, smaller than other balcony room having a queen size bed, not king size and of course the shower was a standard corner shower. The balcony was covered in salt! We took a towel to wipe the rail off several times.
Ship tip
Not too! This was a test sail for us since we have sailed with other cruise lines, it failed. The over experience did not measure up to Royal Caribbean or Carnival. A complete disappointment.
Nassau is nice especially that there is work being done on the docking area. We did not do any excursions since we had been to Nassau two previous times. We walked the Main Street and did some t-shirt shopping.
Way too much time at MSC’s own island. An entire day was way too long. The island is beautiful and the beaches very nice but the shopping is barely existent. There are several stores but not very tourist friendly. Not worth an entire day and evening to visit.
The MSC staff did a great job getting guests off the ship. Of course we were in line for about an hour before we were able to get off, but we were some of the first people off and customs was a breeze.
