Review summary

I like MSC. The fares are reasonable. The food is reasonably good. The rooms are nice, and the staff is great I did hear a fair amount of whining: elevators, bartenders, watered down drinks (I can't say as I didn't drink any alcohol). That wasn't my experience: I enjoyed it, and I appreciate the efforts of the staff.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
A little chaotic. Had an 11:30 embarkation time. Make sure to get into the correct line if you are dropping off your bags or want to get in line to board the ship Took about 45" to board. Seemed pretty reasonable to me As an FYI, if you are parking in the garage, they didn't open the facility until about 10:20 am. Note: for those of you who want to eat, the buffet opens at 11 and is on 16 AFT. There is a second buffet service in the back.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Regular dining is fine. The only specialty dining I did this time was Hola! Tacos, which was fair.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Didn't really participate. Jenga contest was fun to watch.

Ship Quality

Elevators seemed full almost all the time.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Nice as always for MSC. Cabin steward was excellent

Ship tip

The elevators are crowded, so give yourself ample time. They seemed to very full compared to other MSC cruises. Their capacity is supposed to be 21 people, but they must mean "European" sizes, not large Americans. You would be hard pressed to get more than a dozen in these elevators.

Ports of call

Port Canaveral, Florida

Nassau, Bahamas

Nassau has improved with the new port building, but it's still Nassau...

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

The weather has a lot to do with the experience. It was really windy. The walking pathways are full of transport vehicles who beep at you to jump out of the way. Not fun walking. You almost have to walk off the paths to accommodate the vehicle traffic.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Pretty smooth. Lined up and wheeled luggage off. Took about 15" total. They started a few minutes before 7:00 am, and I was in my car by 7:15.
