Review summary

I think the ship is new, and one of the most beautiful sailing from Miami. Everything works well, no complaints. We cannot say how the regular restaurants were because we were in Yacht Club, which is a notch up from the other restaurants. The whole Yacht Club experience is excellent. But the food in the "specialty" restaurants have to be upgraded. The Mexican restaurant should be eliminated as the food is simply bad. No reason to have a Mexican restaurant in an Italian ship. The seafood restaurant is manned by disinterested waiters and the food is very plain. The Burcher's Cut was better and so was the Teppanyaki, though not the best in any ship. Disembarkation was smooth, but embarkation in Miami was chaotic. No one directing the traffic into the building and we discovered the Yacht Club entry by chance. No wheelchairs there. Otherwise, if they polish these very minor faults, MSC would be the best in the industry as they have the ships, they just have to polish their cuisine.

Embarkation

We needed whelchairs and this company does not provide wheelchairs outside on embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
The Yacht Club was very good, but the specialty restaurants, particularly the Mexican and the Ocean cay were pretty bad, Why they want to cook Mexican, being an Italian company is beyond me!

Venchi 1878 Gelato

5 out of 5

Excellent!

Venchi 1878 Chocolate Bar

5 out of 5

Loved both! Excellent!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Not many activities, but we wanted a quiet cruise. We watched TV which was good, and the internet worked well.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
We saw one show, and it was good. Not too long, but we do not like long shows anyway. Music was adequate in the Yacht Club lounge.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
We were lucky in our staff. The "butler" which is a person who will escort you places or indicate whatever you wish to know, was very good and helpful. And the cleaners were attentive and our cabin was always clean and ready at any time of day. That is an area where MSC is excellent.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is elegant, it is new and always spotless. We enjoyed sailing on this new ship. If they improve the food it would be near-perfect

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We loved our cabin. It was a nice size, and the bathroom was very comfortable. There was always hot water.

Ship tip

Two very important things: If you are in need of a wheelchair, you will find it difficult to get one on getting down from your car. You have to go in to registration and THEN you may be able to get one. The other advice is to try and pay for Yacht Club, it is MUCH better than the other type cabins. Plus the food is much better in the Yacht Club dining room.
