Review summary

We had an awesome week on the cruise….wish we had booked a second week. Staff was great as usual. They always make us feel special. We have had trouble with the accounting department of MSC but when we go on the ship, we realize why we always choose to return. We would definitely recommend trying MSC.

Embarkation

Got used to checking in and boarding the ship, but things are getting back to normal.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We ate in the Central Park Restaurant. Our head waiter, Anil Kumar, and our waiter, Tatenda Ben, were exceptional! We went to Butcher’s Cut (steakhouse) 1 night. The service and the food were phenomenal. I had the filet. My husband had the NY. No need to upgrade the steak. Flavor was great and both were tender!

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We used the pools a lot. The Jungle Bar pool is deeper - great for exercising. We didn’t use the slides, but others seemed to be having a great time.

Entertainment

Lee-Ron (solo guitarist) has a great voice. We enjoyed listening to him whenever he was scheduled. The Rockin’ Divas were good. I thought the second show was better than the first but that is my preference. Only thing is their costume changes need to be a smoother transition. Didn’t really see a reason for both to be off stage at the same time especially since you can’t see the videos that were on from all seats. We really enjoyed the Showmen too! They have a lot of energy! They had to cancel the show Coast to Coast one night. They got a comedian to fill in on short notice. We thought he was great. Tough crowd since there were a lot of foreigners.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff on MSC always amazes us. Manoj, a head waiter that we had had on the Meraviglia in Oct., called out to me as I was leaving the dining room. The Shine Bar has some exceptional bartenders and servers - Paul B, Larra B, Kumar N, Ritesh S, Premanand, Krizzia and Rayson as well as Savio M, Imran that work other bars. They greeted us anytime they saw us!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is beautiful, well maintained and clean

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The bathrooms are tight as they are on other cruise lines and ships. The cabin had a king size bed, a sofa and adequate storage space. The bed was comfortable. Another passenger said she thought the balcony cabin was small. We didn’t. Of course, we don’t spend much time in the cabin.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

5 out of 5
Port is clean and run fairly well. We live in FL. Didn’t do an excursion

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

5 out of 5
We didn’t do an excursion. It was a Jamaican holiday so it was very busy everywhere. Went into town to shop. Found a restaurant that was open so we went to lunch. People were friendly. Food was very good.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Beautiful beach at Seven Mile. We’ve been there before.

Cozumel, Mexico

Been there before. Elected not to get off the ship. Long walk and they send you through a shopping plaza. Too much for those with some mobility issues.

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Love this island. Can’t wait to see when it is developed more. Beaches are beautiful. Trams are available to take you to the other side. Lighthouse Beach has some shells and coral getting in. There are small waves at this beach. The beach by the buffet is sheltered. The water is calm and it is easy to get in.

Disembarkation

We carry our luggage off. Had you stand in line for awhile. 8 people had to clear before we could disembark
