Review summary

It was a good cruise, but nowhere near my favorite. I will likely not cruise MSC again until I need to renew my (status matched) Diamond status, or if I get a really good deal on a cruise.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Food on this ship was all across the board, really. Main Dining Room was hit and miss, some excellent items and some really bad ones. We learned to take the suggestions from our head waiter, Gerald. Dinner at Butcher's Cut was outstanding. The buffet was decent, but had very limited options and very little variety from day to day. I was disappointed with the limited available included dining options; it was either the buffet, or extremely restrictive dining room times.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Deck parties were fantastic. Trivia games were fun as well. One thing I found very disappointing was the lack of entertainment after about 10:30 at night. If you didn't want to be dancing at the nightclub, you were pretty much out of luck.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The main theater shows were wonderful. Such incredibly talented singers, dancers, and acrobats! There were also some good performers in the Cabaret Rouge and various lounges. The dueling piano players were good; however, I would have preferred something more interactive. I also wish there had been more opportunity for karaoke. The few times they offered it was right in the middle of my dinner time, and only for an hour. The magician/comic was highly unimpressive.

Cabin / Stateroom

Cabin was very nice. Good storage and comfortable bed. Bathroom was very small and cramped, even for a solo traveler

Ship tip

Absolutely stunning ship, and excellent crew. Food is hit or miss, as are the shore excursions. Set expectations accordingly.

Ports of call

San Juan, Puerto Rico

I didn't care for the late hour of the port stop (4pm arrival). I would have much rather had more daylight time.

Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas

Beautiful island! I definitely want to go back. Again, I wish we'd had more time in port. The 1:30pm all aboard time was less than ideal. We needed more time to enjoy the island.

Thank you for your review. We are mainly RC cruisers but decided to to MSC Seashore in September. We did have them match our diamond status so curious how it will work. We are very excited. I really wonder why such a late port in Puerto Rico, 5pm for us.
