Review summary

AND if you end up missing a Port of call, they'll give you a $50 OBC power cabin but refuse to refund your Port taxes. At $62 per person on a family of seven that's way more than a $50 OBC! Never again MSC!!

Long lines with misinformation made it a really miserable experience

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

Buffet was always a mess with the crew struggling to keep up, but specialty waiters still rounding to get you to buy specialty dining packages. Food was hit or miss but it was really the experience that was lacking. I will say they're very generous with the drink package.

Onboard Activities

1 out of 5
All the pools close at 8:00 p.m., and crew usually closed those at least a half an hour early. The family pools are at least 6 ft deep and they offered no floaties for children. After 8:00 p.m. there are no activities for kids except for the kids club. Don't expect the cruise director or her staff to try to make your experience great. They are non-existent.

Entertainment

The main lounge was hokey with poor performances. The DJ in the main atrium was so loud that you couldn't talk to customer service. And believe me if you take this cruise, you'll spend lots of time at customer service. The cabaret lounge was really good and the only highlight of this cruise

Children's Programs

My kids actually enjoy the kids club, but we're bored with it by the end of the week because it was the same old stuff. What family activities they had during the week, you couldn't participate in unless you had already put your kids and kids club. That defeats the point of doing something as a family. And of course they don't tell you about this.

Service and Staff

Can I give this no stars? I've never met a room Stewart that clearly did not give a crap. Well not until msc! The waiters are absolutely clueless, and give you pushback when you ask that they make something right. For example one guy did not know what brown sugar was. And then one to fight with me that it was the raw sugar packets that are brown.

Ship Quality

It is a gorgeous ship but after 1 year is really showing its wear. After one day we had to move rooms because something was broken in the wall behind us and was banging every 2 to 5 minutes and shaking our room. Of course this started at 4:00 a.m. and continued throughout the day. Multiple trips to customer service to make this happen, and didn't get settled into the new room until 11:00 p.m. With kids, this ruined the first C day of our vacation. Also good luck finding a map with a ship! It's nowhere in there fancy app, and they don't have printed versions. They do have really slow touch screens by every elevator to show you what's on the floor of where you're actually at. Frustrating!

Cabin / Stateroom

This is actually interior cabin, which we prefer. But don't dare book an interior cabin on their ship! Unless you love spending the time in your room hearing something bang and vibrate your entire room all through the day and night.

Don't do it!

Always a great time in Mexico!

The port is nice but you'll overpay for crappy souvenirs. Outside the port is really sketchy and dangerous. Don't leave the port unless you have an excursion booked!

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

An absolutely gorgeous Island! But it's highly likely your excursions will get canceled, and all the other excursions are so booked because it's limited availability, but you won't actually get to do anything. Unless you're yacht club, don't think that you're going to get on a tram. Because we had small children with us we did use a tram to get to the beach but it wasted more than 45 minutes of our day. By the time we got to the beach there were no beach chairs left to be had at 11:00 a.m. which was only 2 hours after we docked. I had rented umbrellas, but you have to get those from The shack and take them over yourself. I ended up stealing umbrella stands from those who would save chairs but weren't using the stands. We made our own space near the water with our beach towels and the umbrellas. Also we saw jellyfish in the water around 2:00 p.m. so that finished off our water time. This was on South beach! The buffet was yummy but the line was over an hour and they closed an hour early. The food trucks were only half open, and didn't serve all the food that they reported to have. I would have loved to have a lobster roll and was even willing to pay $14 for it, but they were out by noon. It could have been such a lovely time but MSC can ruin any lovely time.

Another s*** show. They want you out of your cabin by 8:00 a.m. but breakfast is done being served at 8:30. They give you areas to meet in but don't want you to go to those areas until 5 minutes before your scheduled time you called. And then of course by 9:00 a.m. they were running an hour behind on the zones that they were supposed to call.
