Review summary

This cruise was highly anticipated ever since I saw MSC Seaside commercials. I did extensive research and decided to try. I was not disappointed this is the cleanest ship I have ever been on! I hope that’s not just because of COVID. The only downfall is the constant attempt to up-sale you. There were also some nights where the menu wasn’t the best, however I never went hungry. Next time my husband and I will go alone and will skip the dining room if we don’t like the menu.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Considering the amount of people that get Covid testing (everyone), embarkation was relatively smooth. 1 hour from door to ship

Ship experiences

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone was always friendly. And seemed generally happy to have you on board. We boarded when there were a lot of new crew members boarding so there were some still on “orientation” but it didn’t show.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Balcony far aft but not aft. Just steps away from the open air aft elevators made this room very convenient to get to indoor and outdoor activities.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

3 out of 5
Beautiful sail away but to stay in Miami is expensive. We took a 2 day cruise to alleviate this cost :)

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

3 out of 5
Booked a tour that was called the top 10 best. Do not book on the ship! Wait until you get off and it will only be $25. Next time we will stay in the port area and use the pool or beach. Or go to an all inclusive resort for the day.

So sorry. I didn’t see that a question was asked regarding sanitation. They were not enforcing you to wash hands but we always did. I was on Anthem of the Seas reign before the shut down. Came back March 15 and they were doing the same on there! Enforcing.

I can answer regarding cleanliness and whether it’s due solely to Covid—-Happily no! This cruise line, MSC, has always had spotless ships from our experience (twice on Divina, once on Seaside, Seashore cruise coming up). That being said also for comparison we disembarked our last Divina cruise on March 13 2020—as all Covid was coming in hot and ships then stopped cruising. On that trip we did notice an even higher level of dedication to constant cleaning and insisting they saw people sanitize their hands upon entering the buffet (they wouldn’t let u in unless THEY saw you do it—-can you answer if it’s like that at the buffet still?).

I hope you write a review about Divina! My husband wants to try a smaller MSC ship to see if it’s just as fancy hehe

Glad you enjoyed it. People either love or hate MSC. I loved my January cruise on Meraviglia and just booked 19 nights in Divina.
