The boat was nice, but from the start there were a lot of people with cold like symptoms on the boat. We tried to be as safe as possible, but by day 5 we both started to feel bad, and when we got home we both tested positive for Covid.
When we got to Miami, some of the staff was coughing (no mask wearing) and the cruise line was going back out from port on the same day- there seems to be no concern about spreading the virus to new passengers.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
Arrived at the assigned time (2 hours prior to all on board)- place was vacant, except for employees. At the check in desk the staff did not take the manadoratory health questionarrie, and said it was not needed.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Main dining was good, the service for a drink was slow. Did not eat at a specialty restaurant, and the buffet had a good selection of seasonal fruit and vegetables, and there was a large selection of food, some food seemed greasier than normal. The bar was always crowded, and there was limited wait staff taking drink orders.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
There were four pools on board, and they were always crowded and difficult to find seating unless you arrived at 7 am to claim your lounge chair. The two water slides were fun and the kids pool area looked entertaining for children (we traveled without kids).
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The shows were similar to a high school talent show, very disappointing.
Children's Programs
No children
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Housekeeping was good, except for the scum in the bottom of the toothbrush glass. The staff was always pleasant, but some were difficult to understand since they were all foreigners.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
This was our first cruise, but the layout seemed good and the common area were clean and well-maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The room and bathroom was spacious since it was a handicap room (last room at time of booking- not requested or required). The large negative was the lack of no outlet by the bed. The cruise line did not inform or suggest to bring an extension cord for a CPAP machine. We had to stand in the customer service line for another 30 minutes to get an extension cord, which required a $30 deposit. At the end of the cruise we had to stand in line again to turn in the cord and get the deposit back. This was a big waste of time, and could have been easily avoided if we knew to bring an extension cord. The ship provided shampoo and body soap, but no conditioner.
Ship tip
Be very careful about the USB charging ports- one is high power.
Upon arrival in Cozumel, you have to walk through the gauntlet of vendors and tour guides pushing there wears. We did snorkel by Chankanaab reserve at a private beach, it was fair but the coral was not healthy.
This port required a tender boat to get to the island, and did not have an over abundance of vendors. We walked to the area that we snorkeled and did find live coral and fish.
Covid is the flu / common cold …it’s here to stay and we just have to live with it . So glad you enjoyed your cruise and thank you for the info about the CPAP
