Not what I expected and will not take another MSC cruise.
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Chaotic process from beginning to end confusion about sailing time. Language barrier and very aggressive upselling. Bags to my room were late.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
1 out of 5
MSC really needs to hire or train their chiefs to cook food fit to eat. Their daily menu choices were dismal, 3 appetizers, one is usually a salad the others not very appetizing. 4 main, 0ne pasta and one risotto others usually have names not related to the dish they deliver to the table. Overall taste of the food was very plain most time over cooked or warm. Except for 1 night there were no premium food on the menu.
Onboard Activities
1 out of 5
The ship did not have enough activities to accommodate their guests and many of the activities costs extra to use. Overall the ship was not very exciting, we decided to spend most of our time on shore.
Entertainment
1 out of 5
MSC believe 1 show 7 nights is entertainment. We were so bored but went to the shows because there was no other entertainment as an option. The daily show was a sing and dance act, the only change from night to night was the song title and costume. 24 people always doing their act it depends on what order they come on stage.
Children's Programs
1 out of 5
not worth it.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
not enough staff for the service required. Most were from Indonesia, India and other countries, all of which seemed to need training but are thrown into the job cold. Wait time was long for most things, at time we cleaned up tables just to get a seat at the Buffet.
Ship Quality
2 out of 5
Ship was not impressive overall it seemed clean, there always folks cleaning, however our room and the hallways seemed to need a deep cleaning. I had to ask our room Stewart to vacuum our room and clean our toilet.
Cabin / Stateroom
2 out of 5
size seemed a bit small, the deck was a good space to have although our room Stewart told us that the door between our 2 rooms could not be open because it was broken then we see the ship opened it to clean the decks. Cleanness was average I found a hat under the bed from the previous guest. The ship only had liquid soap but was watered down.
We also were not impressed with MSC only time will might try them again is a good price in yacht club. However they have really increased their prices for a basic cruise line and you can do a royal Caribbean, Princess or celebrity for the same price! We felt just the same as you did from your review.
Agree completely on all your critic points. Hope you didn’t had to stay too long omboard. We had a 17 days long horrible cruise on this ship from Genoa to Guadeloupe in Nov-Dec, and the debarkation was absolutely the best thing about the cruise.
