Review summary

Overall, it was a good cruise. Main reason we chose it was because of the port destinations. All destinations were good and worth calling to. Good choice of excursions also, if quite expensive to do some of the cruiseline-excursions. With regards to the ship, it was quite nice, with good outdoor pool area. Staff were friendly and always smiling. The only exception is the Guest Services-Reception staff who are quite bad and fail to resolve some very simple issues. Always a large queue to speak to them which doesn't help your frustration. If I was to go on another cruise, the one thing that would stop me booking with MSC again is the quality of the food. It was unacceptable in my opinion and I'm not a fussy eater, quite the opposite. Most nights the food was barely edible, while every night I couldn't help think I could do a better job. A school canteen would have nicer food. Apart from the food, the cruise was quite good and I enjoyed it.

Food throughout the ship was unacceptable. We are not fussy eaters and ate quite a range of dishes and found almost all to be quite poor. The main food such as meats etc. looked to be cheap and were very poorly cooked. The taste and texture of most dishes were well below what you would expect and if you ate this in a restaurant you would complain and/or never come back. Some nights we would arrive to dinner quite hungry and after a few minutes we would be put off our food due to the taste/texture/look of the food. It was just awful. The only reason it gets 2 stars instead of one is because they have "Food & Drink" as one category, and the drink was good. Reasonably priced (seen as you are basically stuck on the ship bit no other option they could have charged what they wanted!) with lots of options and good portions.

Layout and design was quite nice, can't complain. All areas were very well maintained and very clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

Size was OK, nothing major and not tiny. Cleanliness was quite good as staff came in twice a day to clean and give out Daily Programs for the following day.
