The ports make it worth it, but the cruise line is lacking in customer service and the food is not great. The ports considerably brought the score up. Without them it's a solid 2.8-3 , especially if you are used to the US cruise lines.
Embarkation
2 out of 5
Stood in the heat for 2 hours and had to show my cruise ticket 6 times, before getting on the ship to a surly faced security guard.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Food was very ordinary. Pasta on an Italian cruise line should not taste like leather. The upsell of drinks packages were very aggressive and immediate once boarding the ship. The staff were almost insulted when you declined.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Pools were clean early in the day,but looked pretty cloudy later on. The lounges were tasteful and comfortable , with some very talented musicians.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The performers were very talented, but the show was the same people and basic set every night, with a different theme. This got a little repetitive. The lounge singers were very talented too.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
The waiters and our cabin steward were wonderful, but there were a lot of unhappy faces on the staff. They could benefit from the Disney charm school. No smile, no "hello, how are you " that I'm accustomed to on NCL and RCI.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship was clean, bright and nicely decorated.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
The cabin was clean, modern and had plenty of storage. Bedding was soft and the. Cabin was quiet at night, which I loved.
Ship tip
Don't buy the optional steak dinner. Its's overpriced and poorly prepared. One of my dinner mates felt pressured in to buying it and had to send it back.
