Review summary

Now you may think I didn't enjoy myself due to some criticism I wrote, but I did. I cruise now to relax. I don't need to bungee jump or parasail anymore! I just grab a book, have a drink, and relax. This cruise was like that for me. With the exception of food on-board (😛), our first MSC was a good one.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
I heard many bad experiences with Meraviglia embarkation, specifically long wait. We didn't experience too much of a wait. Checked in, got our number (12) and waited about 45 minutes.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main dining room service very slow. We heard that from many people. We also had to ask 3 or 4 times for water refill. Maybe they don't have the staffing?? The buffet didn't have much variety in that they served the same food for both lunch and dinner and it was the same all 7 days. We did eat one specialty meal at Kaito Teppanyaki Restaurant & Sushi Bar. That was excellent food. You can also use the beverage package if you get the beverage plus package.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
MSC has to have more on-board activities, especially on seas days, or at least more variety of things to do. And I like trivia as much as the next person but the hosts need a bit more training! I think I could have done better. 😁

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The bar staff was great, especially in the Brass Anchor Pub. Our room steward was also a favorite. He was always around but not seen; however when we needed something, there he was. Unfortunately, we didn't find the wait staff particularly helpful. Just a smile goes a long way.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The Meraviglia is a beautiful ship. Very clean and well-maintained. We were on there 7 days and it did take a while but we realized the layout and easily got around.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The size of the cabin was fine. We had a balcony room and this was one of the larger balconies I've had on a ship. One item lacking were outlets. With all the tech we carry now there should be more than 2 outlets!! And none in the bathroom! The closet is small and there isn't much shelving or drawers.

Ports of call

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
The beach at Mahahual was nice with a lot of shade. Just be careful, you don't have to pay for the beach or umbrellas but locals will say you have to and will charge various prices.

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

5 out of 5
Extremely beautiful place. MSC has done a great job. I like that there are multiple beaches to try, some lagoon style and some ocean. I do wish the signage was more evident and that the tram stopped at all beaches. The lighthouse light show isn't Disney but it is a nice show to see.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
Been several times. Just like to shop now! But if you want food, eat at Pancho's, and get the sampler!

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
We elected to do self disembarkation. It was one long, long, long line that intersected other lines and people going in more than one direction. MSC needs to work on this process.
