I don’t think we would cruise with MSC again. Besides the stateroom, the hypnotist show, our room steward, and the variety of foods on the buffet- we did not have a great- even a good experience.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
The power went out several times which took down the system and had us all sitting in long lines for quite some time.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Food was ok. Buffet had a good variety and great fresh fruit. Pizza was ok- but only thing open late night. The bars ran out of alcohol first night of the cruise. And we waited 20/30 minutes for a drink making our package a waste of money. At ocean cay the lines for drinks were 30+ minutes. And guests had to go collect cups on the beach so drinks could be made and served.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
Everything cost extra. Which we were not aware of prior to boarding and didn’t say online. Bowling, 4-D theater, simulators etc ALL had extra fees.
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The quality shows cost additional. The hypnotist was great. The other free shows were just mediocre and geared towards much older groups.
Service and Staff
2 out of 5
Our room steward was very kind, prompt and efficient. Guest services was very rude and unhelpful. The dining room manager and head staff
were very rude. Waiting staff were very nice & prompt as they could be.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The ship was beautiful. Kind of complicated finding our way around. Everything was clean and sparkly.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
One of the best parts of the cruise/ship. Largest stateroom we’ve ever had. Very Spacious for an
interior room. Nice shower.
Ship tip
Don’t get the drink package- they ran out of liquor, don’t get the drink package. They didn’t have enough liquor and ran out of many types the first night and we waited on line for 20-30 minutes.
javawoody, you are partially right I think. The head managers are Italian and it feels like being at an Italian hotel where their attitude is that foreign tourists should just feel grateful to be there. Most of the crew are not Italian, though, but can still seem rude. I think that is just from their manager's example/training.
The shorter three and four day cruises have turned into booze cruises with the free drinks and Wi-Fi packages being offered. The 7 day and longer sailings are a different experience.
Thanks for your detailed review. Found it interesting with running out of certain brands of liquor. I wouldn't of been happy either if I had bought their drink package.
