Review summary

I have been on one other cruise many years ago and had a great experience. It was with Carnival. This cruise was not good at all. It was my boyfriends first cruise and it was a disappointment. Couldn't stop at Ocean Cay and MSC did nothing to accommodate us for losing that experience and being at Sea for 3 days.Everything was based around fitness and spending money in their expensive shops. We saw one great show in the Broadway Theater which was The Christmas Show. The ship was at maximum capacity and was very crowded. The bartenders were good especially in the Casino. We don't gamble but went to the Casino for a change of scenery and to get our drinks.We will be sailing again but not on this ship.

Food was not good. We ate Hamburgers and French Fries all week from the buffet. There was not very many choices to eat elsewhere on the ship.

Onboard Activities

We were at Sea for 3 days because of not being able to go to the Private Island Ocean Cay. We got board. This ship seemed to be focused around fitness and shopping in expensive shops.

The Christmas Show was excellent in the Broadway Theater.

No problems with Staff. Everyone was very nice. Bartender in the Casino was awesome.

We got lost several times during the first day due to the layout of the boat. They were constantly cleaning so the boat was very clean the entire trip.

Our room was very nice and clean. Raissa is the best and treated us with such kindness. She was very helpful with any questions we had.

Our experience was not good. Be ready for everything to be based around fitness and spending money in the expensive shops

It was horrible...took a while for customs to approve the ship so we could get off the boat.

People either love or hate MSC. I had two great experiences with them this year and loved it. Ports are messed for a variety of reasons, including weather, and the only compensation is generally reimbursing. Any port charges. Costa Maya has great options if you leave the main port area. Just take a cab to nearby Mahahual and there are numerous restaurants / beach clubs with chairs & umbrellas for a great beach day.

Sorry this cruise was disappointing. MSC certainly do a lot of upselling which can be very annoying.
