Would I sail with MSC again? Yes, but I wouldn't seek them out. They didn't stand out from other cruise lines I've been on. If the dates and itinerary suit you, book them. You won't be disappointed, but you won't be overly impressed either.
Would I take this cruise again? No way. Until they streamline the embarkation and disembarkation process, in the words of one country song, "the pleasure ain't worth the pain."
Embarkation
1 out of 5
Stood in line nearly six hours with no food, water or bathroom. Unbelievable!
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Most food was tasty and fresh, but I rate it a bit below Carnival. Service at assigned dinner table was great, but at open tables for breakfast it wasn't so good. Didn't keep coffee filled, and often didn't bring water after several requests. A couple of waiters were sort of surly.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
Didn't really participate in many.
Entertainment
4 out of 5
Except for one male singer who missed his notes shows were fantastic. Some of the other enteretainers were great, and some only so-so, but that may depend on your tastes. Two Cirque du Soleil shows were offered (at extra cost). Vellagio was great. Sonor consisted mostly of some young guy making funny noises in a microphone and should be avoided.
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
Great except for above noted exceptions in dining room for breakfast. Its amazing how everyone can keep smiling and pleasant working those long hours.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
Cleanliness and maintenance were great. It got annoying hearing every announcement in five different languages, but I guess that is unavoidable when you book an Italian ship.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
Size was OK, but I have been on other ships where the same size cabin was laid out more efficiently. No storage room to speak of. Temperature difficult to regulate - stayed too cold during the day no matter the thermostat setting.
Visited fishing village and boat tour through the mangroves. Great time, except for boat tour where there was an old rickety unstable boat with no life jackets. Beautiful island.
Unless you consider lounging on a beach a great day there is nothing here. And February weather is frequently too cold to do that unless you're crazy. All you can do is walk around and eat. Shopping is very limited and has nothing of much interest. Would much rather have visited an inhabited Bahamian island - t-shirts and all.
