It is a big ship, one of the newest from MSC, with a bis Led-Sky and 100 meters Shopping mall. So it not a traditional cruise ship, it’s a ship to have fun, meets people in the mall and to test some new restaurants in the mall on two decks.
Embarkation
3 out of 5
It was the first time that the Meraviglia startet a transatlantic cruise from Kiel (5400 passengers, perhaps 4000 with ESTA-embarkation, so we saw thousands of people they want to embarkation. Terrible, Such a lot of People on one place in the sun, and they had to wait more then two hours in the queue. We could See, where is the end of the queue. So we ask for the priority check for black members. Sorry, no Priority check in. So we have taken the Yacht Club Check in, but there was no traffic sign, so we ask some employee from MSC, and finally we could check in the priority Check in. Our friends with no Priority had to wait more than 2 hours. From Railway station we must taken a ship shuttle to a place outside, because the Meraviglia is to big and there was also a AIDAprima in the Port of Kiel
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
We had booked the Yacht Club, so we had our Redtaurant in front of the ship in the Yacht Club area. We always could get a place for two persons. The meals and the service had been good, but not excellent or exclusive. Some of the menues are the same like in the other restaurants, but the restaurant is smaller, only for 200-300 persons, not for 1000 of people.
Onboard Activities
5 out of 5
MSC has a very good proposition of onboard activities. The LED-Sky with the 100 Meter passage (like a shopping mall) is very nice, so they have a great place to offer activities also when it is raining.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The shows on the MSC ships are all excellent. The music in the Yachtclub was perfect and excellent!
Service and Staff
4 out of 5
The service in the Yacht Club area was good, but not excellent and not perfect! We didn‘t see our butler, no newspaper, the waiter’s changed every day and also on the same mealtime, so it could be, than they ask 3 times for bread, butter, drinks (always another one) or they want to serve something, which we didn‘t ordered. This is really not excellent. But it was good, like in the other main restaurants.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
A very nice, but also a very big cruise ship with 5400 passengers and more then 1000 crew members. A lot of people, and not enough seats for all the passengers. So they have 3 dining’s each evening, you must book a show and you couldn’t find a nice place like in the smaller ships. So we prefere the smaller ships and the balcony suites.
Cabin / Stateroom
4 out of 5
It was a Yacht Club suite, 14003, with more place, 3,5 meters wide front, one meter more than in the balcony cabin. The Service was okay, but we didn’t see our butler often. In the normal decks with stewards for the cabin we meet them every day very often.
Ship tip
MSC Yacht Club is the ship in a big ship, so we booked this way to have a better experience than in the 2000 cabins on the normally decks. This was good, but we found that it is not excellent and we prefere in the future the smaller ships and the balcony suite.
We finished the cruise in Southampton and left the ship without butler service, but we had Yacht Club Priority. This was the best way to leave the ship.
