MSC Magnifica

6 Night Western Mediterranean (Santa Cruz De Tenerife To Genoa)

Sail date: November 26, 2022

Ship: MSC Magnifica

Cabin number: 10172

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

MSC. Go for the itineraries. At least on Magnifica, the food has been aeful on both our trips and the service subpar. It's a 2 star hotel that moves you from port to port. If that's all you want from the cruise, you'll be happy. I thought Carnival was low class, but this was worse.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
Ate mostly in the main dining room. Some food was just inedible. Most food was cold. Flavors were poor. Waitstaff did their best. Food was bad last time I was on Magnifica, and I vowed never again, but the Mrs wanted this itinerary so we took it. Mistake. It was worse this time.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Some things fun, but not enough activities on the 2 sea days.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Most staff poor to OK, but only one was great -our head waiter Vijay. We were not walcomed back as repeat guests on the ship nor as gold members. Pursers desk and photo people downright rude.

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Cabin was a fine balcony cabin. Had both US and Europe plugs which is nice.

Ship tip

Dont. If you love MSC try a different ship.

Ports of call

Santa Cruz De Tenerife, Canary Islands

4 out of 5
Beautiful island. We rented a car and drove around the national park.

Funchal, Madeira

4 out of 5
Fun. We did a private jeep tour and walked around Funchal, took the cable car one way (got dropped off at the top by our tour). MSC port call not long enough to do more than that.

Malaga, Spain

4 out of 5
Self toured the Alcazaba, walked around. Nice port. We've been to the alcazaba in Seville and Alhambra as well, this is not as great, but if you havent been to those this is a good start.

Marseille (Provence), France

3 out of 5
Notbad, but not as charming as other places in France. It's a big city and MSC docks waaaaay away fromt he old port so you need a shuttle. Regretted paying for the MSC shuttle as the port gives a free one that was closer than we thought it would be.

Genoa, Italy

3 out of 5
We walked from port to train station - 8 minutes, not bad.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
It was a zoo.

Thanks for the review. I had a cruise on this ship scheduled next June but it was cancelled. After reading your review it’s probably a good thing. I rebooked booked to MSC Seascape.
