Review summary

Good price for a Mediterranean cruise. Loved the stops. Food on MSC is pretty good but their desserts need work. Staff is good. Amazing the ability to converse in so many languages.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Liked that we could buy a couple bottles of wine at duty free before we embarked

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Offerings were good at buffet and main dining room, EXCEPT for desserts. I resorted to eating ice cream on occasion in the dining room....don't think it is available at buffet. Where are those Italian cannoli and other pasteries.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Did not find any activities aside from shore visits and theatre performances that enticed me to participate.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The troupe onboard was a 10+. Singing and dancing and a special the contortionist group were amazing.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff was efficient and cordial.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
I have always found the Meraviglia class of ship crowded in the main usage areas.

Cabin / Stateroom

Liked the port side so we could see all the city lights around the Mediterranean. OK sized balcony. A bit too cool to use often.

Ports of call

Barcelona, Spain

Perfect embarkation port with the blue bus to take you for 3 euros from the Columbus statue area to the ship.

Marseille (Provence), France

The shuttle to town was really cold to wait 45 minutes to board and is pricey. There is a public bus and usually a tourism office bus but not sure I saw those running the day we were there.

Genoa, Italy

5 out of 5
So loved Genoa. Do want to go back. Walk around the city and use the metro (which is free from 10 am to 4pm) and the free funiculars. The locals had fun with us trying to teach us some Italian.

Civitavecchia (Rome), Italy

4 out of 5
Not much to do. Only the outside of the fort is viewable. The beach area is good to sit and watch people.

Valletta, Malta

5 out of 5
Paid MSC for hop on off bus and ended up at Mdina which was interesting but wished we had spent more time in Valletta. Did get to do the Balanka elevator and the Co cathedral. Don't miss these.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
OK after we figured out since we had all of our luggage we could just walk off at our leisure.
