First-Time Cruiser — Exceeded Expectations by Macromaster

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean

As a first time cruise family we didn’t know what to expect, but we did do our homework. Kept our expectations low (mainly due to poor reviews of the Divina on this site). Glad we did, our expectations were far exceeded at every turn! Was delighted by most aspects of the experience, starting with upgrade to the 13th deck “Wellness” cabins after having booked a “Bella” experience (perks did not change, only cabin assignment). Ship was beautiful and service staff exceptional. Kids were blown away by buffet selection, and the wife and I felt pampered in the dining rooms although food did often fall short. But we were never hungry!! Oh, and the pizza is truly excellent. I splurged on a 30 min massage on Day 1, which gave me access to the thermal area for the entire cruise as part of a promotion. Great investment! I had an oasis of calm and tranquility to escape to when needed (which I did up to three times a day!). Loved that massive steam room.. The kids ended up making friends in the kids club which meant they were happy and out of hair for long stretches of sea days.. which led to blissful poolside lounging for my wife and I. Port Days were family adventures, with only 1 organized excursion (not through MSC). We had fun in all ports (except Guadaloupe, as entire town was shut down for XMas), but would recommend booking at least one excursion. Ours was well done, and nice not having to hassle with finding taxis, etc. Overall, we now see the allure and appeal of cruising, and are happy we chose MSC and the Divina. The European experience, exceptional service, and the ships high level of elegance was an impressive surprise for the price paid. Next time we’ll pack nicer clothes!!

Could have been better and worse by dagatorman

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean

This was my first MSC cruise and this Divina cruise was selected for their itinerary and cost. The kids cruise on MSC for a lot less than what other cruise lines charge, even as a 3rd and 4th passenger. But if they cruise for less.. where do the make it up?? Food and service. Two most important features on a cruise. After cruising with Celebrity, RCCL, Princess, the food and the service is below the standards set by the other lines.. And the service was slow and the staff seem to be overworked (understaffed) but if you go in knowing what to expect, you will have a good time. Will we cruise again with MSC? probably. We are looking at Mediterranean cruise in the summer... it's paying $6700 on RCCL or $3700 on MSC... You have to choose....

Worst cruise I have ever taken. The people I met on board were fun but the staff and food were something less than desirable.

MSC has gone downhill. Food... by Luv2CruiseFever

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

MSC has gone downhill. Food was horrible. The “Free Unlimited Drinks” was NOT free and NOT unlimited. Choices were very limited and each drink is charged an arbitrary number and then you pay 15%. For example, a 3 oz Proseco is assigned $9 charge and you pay 15% or $1.44 & then you sign a receipt. AND, IT DIDN’T INCLUDE COFFEE. So the “Unlimited Free Drinks” package is a DISINGENUOUS come on. SO, Drinks sucked, food sucked, specialty restaurant options sucked.

Really like the ship, very... by petrilcrew

Sail date: /
Ship: MSC Divina

Really like the ship, very elegant and tradional layout; As apposed to the sea side. But there are quite outside chairs to be found on deck 16, aft. Both sides. Hot tubs and pool are a little further back and a little more crowded. Love the pizza and bread in buffet, but could use more variety throught the trip. Sit down dinning was very good, our waiter was wonderful, but definitely could use more help. (really hard worker🐝. Take care of them at the end of cruise) Understaffed. Shows were good and entertaining, but not Broadway. Also, use the single elevators mid to aft of the ship😉. Almost like private service. Good time, very international. Smile, keep an open mind you'll enjoy.

A Wonderful Experience by TravelingDuo99

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We had a blast. Visited all the ports of call, took tours in Jamaica and Panama (both of them fun and informative), spent most of our time poolside during at-sea days, and tried to take in as much of the nightly entertainment as possible. Loved the vast diversity staff & guests brought to the cruise and had a great time meeting people from many different countries/backgrounds.

Gorgeous ship but problems everywhere. 5 different languages used onboard. Forced share tables in mdr. Lack of dining options. Bad itinerary and ports. Worst pool chair hogs ever. Lazy staff. Complicated packages. Good cabin.

Very elegant ship, very friendly staff and a lot of diversity. I am giving 5 stars even though I had some issues that was resolved promptly. Loved the length we stayed (11 days) because we were able to have enough time to enjoy the ship and activities

Underwhelmed... by BertG4

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Stayed in the Yacht Club but was very underwhelmed by the experience...food was bland and service was hit or miss... Waiters in restaurant were awesome but butler staff needs work...shows were pedestrian at best, singers awful but acrobats were very good. Entertainmentaround the ship was spotty, often sitting around waiting for something to happen. Lounge bands played same songs night after night after night...pianists were very talented however. Probably won't be booking on MSC again...
