Awesome Experience! by beaty256

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

I would definitely recommend this cruise line for anyone looking for a relaxing cruise. It was an international crowd, so there was far more culture than drinking parties on board. There were plenty of activities to choose from each day, and the lounges were beautiful and refined. If you want a party cruise, pick another line. MSC was all about class, upscale entertainment, and international culture.

Overall Rating by hdcoach

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Shows were exciting.  Our server for dinner was fantastic.  Ship was great.  Ports of call were great as well.  It was a fun and exciting cruise.  The food in the dining room was great.  What I would like to see is a few more things for younger kids (ages 7-10) to do other than the pool and club activities.

Captain Terrific and Impactful / Food Tolerable by tsweet30310948

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The Captain was a standout; interesting, funny, thoughtful, and great at his job.

We had 3 rough days at sea, and when the Captain finally found us some sunshine, he worked diligently to reschedule the itinerary to maximize time in the sun, and calm the seasick passengers.

Food in general was passable, nothing outstanding, though there was plenty to be had.  All food was served cold, and I really wanted hot meals hot.   Lots of food was overcooked, especially eggs.  Cold overcooked eggs are gross.   The exceptions: French fries and desserts--these were great.

The ship was clean.  Lounge performers very good (though everything was electronically augmented like karaoke which was tiresome.)  Dance instruction very good.  Theatrical shows were hit or miss (2 good/2 terrible).   Service at bars was slow, but table service was usually efficient.

I had heard that MSC was an older-persons cruise line, but this was not the case.  All ages were present.    There was not excessive advertising as I have experienced on other ships, and I really appreciated that.  Overall the trip was very good and restful.

BLAND FOOD ~ SMALL PORTIONS ~ POOR ENTERTAINMENT by ObstructedView

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

After over a dozen Carnival Cruises where we saw them cut back on quality we decided to try an MSC cruise to see if they were any better.

Our representative should have made us aware that when we spent the extra money for a high 13th Level balcony, we would have an obstructed view!

We were not happy with the food quality and the portions were small.

There was no "anytime" seating for the restaurants so you had to eat ether too early or too late. The food arrived cold on a few occasions. On the first formal night there was no lobster special, unless you paid extra. The surf and turf filet mignon special that they offered was a hockey puck size piece of meat and ONE shrimp. The onion soup was inedible mud. I expected more from an Italian cruise line. The buffet was pretty much the same food every day and the staff was slow to buss the tables so there was usually no place to eat without walking across the entire ship to find someone getting up and waiting for them to buss.

The entertainment was mostly pre-recorded with poor or no sets or stage design. I heard YMCA at least twice at different productions. The musical staff around the ship were also mostly playing along to recorded music.

The pool areas were taken over early in the mornings by people laying out their towels for the entire day so no chaise lounges were ever available.

They charged extra for things like gelato and bowling which they show on their website like it's all included.

They list times on the itinerary that we will spend at each port that are not actually true. When they say in their advertising we will be in San Juan from 7am till 4pm and then when we get there it's changed to 9am to 3;30 They are not being truthful and cheating you out of beach time.

ON THE PLUS SIDE: Carnival tries to sell you booze everywhere you are every day, and there is always someone trying to take your picture so they can sell it to you later. This is not the case on MSC. There were very few photographers taking photos and there was no drinking in the pools and hot tubs which means much less drunken idiots to deal with.

I don't think I would try another MSC Cruise, mostly due to the poor food portions and quality.

Don't Do IT by woodyrus

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Shifty, Lying, Awful cruise line! Please think twice before booking your next vacation with MSC! They give you these fabulous deals that aren't real. They don't back their deals! Though the ship is amazing ..... not if you need a mobility device! The ship is not designed with mobility devices in mind. The elevators are almost impossible for a scooter. I felt like I had to stay in my room, rather than inconvenience other guests by trying to navigate the layout of the ship on my scooter. The food is bland, boring, tasteless. All dining locations are so crowded with tables and chairs it's impossible to maneuver through them, without constantly being bumped, hit, or run into while trying to enjoy your meal! Honestly it's not worth the money you're going to pay.

Would recommend MSC by law827

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

staff was phenomenal & helpful. Would recommend  they offer free wifi minutes instead of making you pay for it. We did not purchase minutes & I know other cruise lines are offering free minutes. Did not feel this ship was a fit for children, more for adults. Entertainment offered was very good

Beautiful Ship by chris987

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Ship is magnificent. Food service very nice. Cabin Steward Mr Jean was excellent.

Black Voyager Club member- VERY POOR / INCOMPLETE / INCORRECT club benefit info from both representatives (Eduardo, Ms. E??) on the ship. NOT ACCEPTABLE !!!

-No info overview/summary of Voyager Club activities in cabin. Had to ask reps.

- Missed the Black member party because on Monday, 2/23/17 Club reps told me it was on "Thursday". It was on Tuesday 2/24 - 2 days before !!!

- Found out by accident about 2 free specialty meals when I went to Eataly for a meal. or I would have missed this benefit also.

- Would be nice to have a special laundry price benefit.

No account balance on TV. Must go to Guest Svcs -wait in line. NOT ACCEPTABLE !!!

Great time but the ports of call were not great. by cleary1948

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Spent an inordinate ammount of time in Puetro Rico - 8am til 10pm. St. Martin was only 5 hours which prevented any real time to do much of anything. La Romana was a complete waste of time and Nassau was a bust. Lots of beautiful places to go in the Carrib but we seemed to miss them. Still we had a great time but we are the kind of people who could have fun in a sand box in the backyard. Also the menu choices in La Muse were limited. Felt like the same menu every evening. The staff was great but it seems as if MSC is cutting back on services.

The Good, The Bad and the disappointment of Hilton by artritt

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

The shows were our favourite, they were great.

The service in the dining rooms was very good, from our wait staff, to D.R. mgr. they tried to appease us in every request.

The elevators were big issues. The "ding" of an elevator about to open was so low, that with all the people waiting you could not hear them.  We waited sometimes up to 10 minutes to get an elevator that could accommodate a couple of people.

The food left a lot to be desired.  Small portions in the dining room, soups that did not taste or resemble what was described on the menu, desserts that looked and tasted different from description,  seafood over cooked, etc. etc.

New Years Eve Cruise 2016 by cvn71rn

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

This was our 1st time on MSC. We have done 2 other NY Eve cruises, both on Royal Caribbean. The Divina is a beautiful ship, built in 2012. Embarkation and disembarkation both went well. The entertainment is excellent, equal to and in parts, better than RC. I would have given a 5 star rating but only gave 4 stars based on several factors. (1) My spouse has a significant gluten allergy and the main dining staff were totally unprepared to address her needs. (2) The food in the main dining area was, overall, bland. (3) They do not offer "anytime dining" unless you want to pay extra (4) The internet is slow. Also, if you stop in Nassau, do NOT waste your time & money on the excursion titled "Panoramic Nassau". Very boring, total waste of time!

Poor Service and Cold Food in Villa Rosa Dining Room by kathryn635

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Eastern

Very disappointed this trip on the Divina.  Our table in the Villa Rosa was extremely tiny for 4 people, and it was placed in the walkway/entrance of the restaurant.  We were lied to by the woman assistant mgr., who assured us that we would be reassigned the next day, but it did not happen. The service was always very slow, and unattentive, and the food always arrived cold.  We would request, for example, tea with the meal, only to have it ignored.  Got tired of having to ask 2 and 3 times for the same thing.  The entertainment was monotonous. There should be a variety of entertainment to include some comedy shows for the adults. We visited the Tshirt store in Grand Turks and purchased $100 worth of merchandise only to be told they did not have the "free" tote bag as Philip stated.  I left Philip a note from our cabin (11268) the night before our disembarking, but he did not attempt to contact me. The only positive experience we had was that our cabin attendant was excellent.  He always provided us with what we requested.  MUCH room for improvement.

Excellent Experience on MSC Divina by LinJordan

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: MSC Divina / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Excellent cruise. Very happy with food, service, and entertainment. We will definitely come back.

Food: very good quality - desert is great, many different types of food. Drinks in buffet are not impressive - coffee has no flavor, hot water is often run out, fruit juice doesn't taste good.

Service: rooms are cleaned frequently. Staffs are very friendly. Room service can be slow.

Excursions: lack of communication, a lot of confusion, no clear explanation on what's going on when there is delay. Some activities was cancelled or delayed.
