Review summary

The entire experience was unorganized. Food was barely edible. Lots of areas inaccessible because of weather. Many staff members weren't overly friendly. Felt like a nuisance to ask for things. Charged extra for room service for more meals even though it said two per person were allowed. Fridge was a mini bar so in order to keep water cold, had to have staff come and unlock it. Just not a good experience at all.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
It was pretty easy to get on ship, but rooms weren't ready for quite a few hours.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
I didn't find any of the food to be good. Small portions at the dining rooms; my son ate his meal plus mine. Buffets were horrid - we survived mostly on bread and desserts. Room service was awful. One day we didn't get anything we ordered. One day, we only got half of what we ordered and one day, we got everything ordered, but they told us 30 minutes and it was almost an hour and a half.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Not a lot to do; some of it was inaccessible due to weather.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
I had one waiter that was super friendly and engaging. Most other staff members were civil, but didn't appear happy to be there.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Ship's layout was complicated to figure out. Lots of areas not accessible, so had to find other ways around.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Overall, room was fine. Didn't like that the fridge was a mini bar, so only accessible if staff came and unlocked it.

Ship tip

Make sure you watch the drink package you order; there are different levels of packages.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

3 out of 5
Very busy; only visited to get on and off the ship.

Nassau, Bahamas Did not visit port

Weather didn't allow us to visit.

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas Did not visit port

Weather didn't allow us to visit.

Disembarkation

Booted out of our rooms, but many of the areas (bars/restaurants) weren't accessible, or had very few staff working. Waited in line for 3.5 hours to get off the ship. Then got stopped when they scanned my card because they didn't get the credit back to my card, so that took even more time.

It's obvious that people don't research the ships and cruising companies before booking. Most of the older ships don't have the amenities the new mega ships have, that's all cruise lines, just not MSC. MSC staff is not up your behinds because tipping is figured in to the packages or standard 18% if you dont get the packages. Lines like Carnival, the staff is like the Hey Joe's merchants in the ports, worry you to death. I guess some people like that but to me, that is to much to me. But I'm sorry your experience was not up to your standards. Good luck on future cruise endeavors. God Bless....
