We couldn’t port anywhere because of the weather so we stayed on sea the entire time. There was nothing for families to do on the ship. It’s just a cruise for drinking. Next time, we will do a different cruise line that’s more family friendly. Even if just us adults went, we would still be bored, as we aren’t drinkers. Pools were closed due to weather. Hot tubs were always full and barely warm. Childcare area was for wide range of ages 3-11 and only video games, legos, and coloring sheets available in a tiny room. They also don’t tell you that despite you going to a beach, they expect your children to have closed toe shoes in there. We went on a cruise to visit islands, other countries, lounge on the beach. I understand we couldn’t port, but other ships decided to go elsewhere like Mexico where it was calm. Our captain didn’t even attempt to go anywhere different. We just stayed on sea on a boring ship.
Embarkation

Getting on the ship was easy and fast.

Food and Dining

It would take 2-3 hours each meal because of the slow service unless you go to the Buffet. The Buffet food is awful. The best thing to eat is the bread and drink is hot tea. Our youngest son barely ate the whole trip. I’m a big foodie and expected to have real good Italian food. That’s why we booked msc instead of another cruise line. I thought we’d have healthy Italian foods. Most foods made my stomach hurt and the smell alone of the buffet could make you sick.
Onboard Activities

We called it the booze cruise because that’s all there is to do. Not a family ship. Just drinking, smoking, bars, casino.

Didn’t go. Nothing for kids and everything was past 7pm.

Extremely small room that was for ages 3-11. Only had legos, coloring sheets, and a gaming system. We had several kids bullying ours. They enjoyed going because the video game is literally all they had to do other than the hot tub. Which was typically full and too cold. Pool was closed due to weather and never set foot on land.
Service and Staff

For the most part good, aside from one bartender that refused to get us anything to clean up our sons puke on the deck from sea sickness.
Ship Quality

Someone always cleaning so overall kept up with. No trash cans to throw things away except in bathrooms and your cabin.
Cabin / Stateroom

The kids bunks are directly over the queen bed so there’s lots of hitting your head. No outlet by bed to charge phone. Luckily I brought fan because room was hot and stuffy.
Thanks for your review. Many ships missed ports due to the weather in that general area. So don't feel like you were alone. It could have been worse and the entire ship forcefully rocking causing an emergency situation. The weather dictates docking or not, not the captian and only so many ships can dock. During the beginning days of the pandemic ships stayed at seas with no place to dock. The best way to avoid the weather situation in the future is to cruise in a different area during a different season.
