Review summary

I went on this cruise because friends were on it. I felt sad it wasn’t the best for their very first cruise, but we had a nice time visiting them.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Quick and easy, no lines. The online check-in was not user-friendly.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Main Dining for dinner was good with good service. Buffet hours were good—breakfast went until 11:30. Lunch buffet menu did not vary much. Vegetables other than cooked carrots would have been nice. The beef was generally tough, and the pork fry.

Onboard Activities

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The acrobats were amazing, and I also enjoyed the juggler. Dancers and singers are always good. The layout of the main theater is better than on many ships. (No pillars in the way; several aisles.). The seats don’t give much leg room.

Service and Staff

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
I did not find any lounges in which one could look forward. There is no personal laundry. The shower is small, and the clothesline could only handle two articles. I was surprised the “premium balcony” was really opaque below the rail—one could not sit on the balcony and see out

Cabin / Stateroom

1 out of 5
I should have been informed at the time of booking that the lower half of the balcony was obstructed. We could not sit on the balcony and see out. We could not see the ocean from in the room. The shower was small, and water leaked out because there was a gap under the shower doors. One could hardly move in the shower.

Ship tip

Try a different ship.

Ports of call

Cartagena, Colombia

4 out of 5
We always enjoy the Macaws and other birds near the entrance.

Colon, Panama

4 out of 5
We were able to get a taxi to take us over the bridge (Atlantic). Remember to take plenty of cash because none of these ports allow credit cards for the taxis.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

4 out of 5
Lots to see. Getting back on the ship took forever standing in line in the hot weather. Although two gangways appeared to be open, one only took five people at a time about every 20 minutes. The other took 15-20 people at a time with long pauses between.

Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, Bahamas

3 out of 5
The lighthouse was nice, and I liked the Lightshow. It was windy, but we still got to wander around. The tram to go to the South Beach is nice. We did not eat off the ship because of the wind.

Puerto Limon, Costa Rica

4 out of 5
We did go to the rain forest and aerial tram—expensive but interesting.

Miami, Florida

Disembarkation

Terrible! I was in Group One and had to go to the back of the ship in the line for a forward exit. We were still back there and heard later groups being called, thus crowding the area even more. It took two hours to get off the ship! Also at one of the ports it was an hour wait to get back on (standing in line in the heat).
